Chip... i agree that you gat what you pay for but a prowler is not an inherently bad gun. If you bought it new, you can send it to crosman and they will likely ship you another one. worse comes to worse, you can order a ram(12$) and a seal (4$) and tear into it ( not difficult) and then you know your gun is "good". do a little tuning while in there, RC bearing mod to the trigger, and if you really want to get crazy, the washer mod on the breach. Voila! 20$ and a little time and you'll have a gun that will definitely satisfy your needs. I own several "expensive " springers, but i also have some tuned Cheapies that i enjoy immensely. My Titan GP (same gun) shoots .22 crosman prems at 730 fps all day long and will do 1 inch groups at 35 yards. it is my "field" crow gun, and it will drop them way pass 70 yards with upper body shots. it has all those mods. is a 100$ gun that now wears a 300$ scope, and it deserves it. at the end is your choice... i think you are at the beginning of a cool adventure if you decide to give the benji a chance.PS: not bad guns... i got 3 ram ones a a spring powered one... all tuned, all keepers.
That sounds like there is a real problem with the rifle. Cocking effort should be consistent and take some effort. Shot cycle should be a firm solid THUMP! every shot. If cocking effort and shot cycle are variable then something is not working correctly.I've got a couple older WM clearance Prowler NP1 22's and they shoot well. If problems develop I'd work on my own rifles and skip warranty service because they were <$65 rifles and parts are cheap. If yours is new and still under warranty I'd send it in for repair or maybe try to get a refund and go for a higher cost/quality air rifle.*****Yes I am doing as much reading on air rifles as posable Watch out for "new" to airguns issues as well. Shooting springers (any type spring = coil-air-gas) is NOT the same as shooting any other rifle. It took me a year, several different springers, and a couple thousand pellets before I really understood all the little nuances of shooting springers with any accuracy. If you are new to shooting springers I suggest you read all you can about their unique shot cycle and the artillery hold. Then put at least several hundred pellets down range with ANY particular rifle to see if there are accuracy issues with the rifle (always possible but not common) or the shooter (pretty common with springers!).Welcome to airguns!
Ok for starters I’m new to air rifles,I bought a Benjamin Prowler 22cal the gun is erratic to say the least so I’ve come to the conclusion there is something wrong with the gun...Any suggestions would be appreciated

I am unable to do the 'arsenal' hold as others suggest and moved on to PCP guns. I'll never go back to springers and am in love with the DAR line for PCP guns now. Good luck, keep in touch.Ya I’ve put over 800 rounds threw it now and put 2 different scopes on it and 5 different weight and brand pellets I am also done with this but I don’t want the baggage wit the PCP rifles Pumps, compressor, air leaks, different fittings sounds like a massive headache

Scroll down to check. I've missed it a few times so I've learned to look for it and post my response after that last "close quote".If you miss it and post in the middle of the quote, the reader has to search for your response hidden in the quote. If you DO want to post inside a quote, for example to answer or respond to several questions, you can insert the bbcodes manually to make your response easy to see. It just gets a little tricky keeping track of all the start-quote and end-qoute codes. It's easy for those that write computer code every day, but not so easy for everyone else Quote from: Badduck on July 13, 2021, 08:31:50 AMQuote from: mikeyb on July 13, 2021, 06:41:29 AMThat sounds like there is a real problem with the rifle. my experience with Crosman/Benjamin spring and gas ram piston airguns has given me to believe that my least negative opinion is that mid price piston airguns are a pain in the behind....mine have turned my into a decent tuner in their very narrow specification range...i have been able at times to hit a 2" square at 100 yards at will with the airgun in my avatar in front of several other airgunners that are also on this site, but that was a Golden Day, one for the books, ect...proved i could do it, the airgun could do it, and i did the tuning work and performed the shooting technique to do 100 yards....on THAT day, been downhill ever since...my freebee B3, free b3?..FreeB3...a $40 tent sale finger chopper airgun rebuilt and tuned (for a B3) given to me by lefteyeshot is more fun and much less hassle for 15-20 yard plinking...just about anything advertising POWER is going to be a learning experience to get to shoot well for most shooters...ask me about my Hatsan Torpedo 155 some time...even pricy guns require "technique" to show their potential...these things lead me to the expense and hassle of PCP airguns and their support equipment...
