I posted the FWB 300 as the gentlemans rifle...wel here's the pistol.
What a joy to shoot. Picked this beauty up years back off a guy locally.

Very nice! I like the grips - those plastic ones were the standard sporting model in Europe and are really quite nice. You seldom seem them in the US as Beeman did not import them. He preferred to up-option (and up-price) the 65 with wood match or sport grips.
The 65 was absolutely the most dominant competition air pistol in history. It was introduced in the mid-1960's and won pretty much every top air pistol match world-wide for 20 years, until the first bulk CO2 and SSP pistols came out in the 80's. It was manufactured for over 35 years.
Scott Pilkington's shop is the official service provider for US national airgun teams for World Championship, Olympic, etc. competitions. He is a master, completely familiar inside and out with every high-end air pistol in existence. He was asked on a forum his proverbial "if you could have only one" choice, and he unhesitatingly replied it would be the Feinwerkbau model 65!

Thanks for reply and info. I sent the pistol off to D. Slade for a tune up yes ago and he commented about the grips being rare. I didn't know what he meant. I researched pics of the 65 and could never find another with the black plastic grips.

Yes, it seems few shooters - even in the more cost-conscious European market - opted for those grips. I think they look pretty sharp though!
Just for giggles, here are the two styles of wood grips for comparison. The gun on the left has the later stippled sport walnut grip. Earlier examples of this grip were checkered, as you can see in the Vintage Airgun Gallery pics.
The other one is a late example of the walnut match grip. Earlier ones have an upward curve to the front of the thumb shelf instead of being flat like this one.

Thank you my friends! Nice to see you all. I've actually been a member here since 2015 and occasionally drop in, although admittedly I rarely post.
On the thread subject, these are undoubtedly my all-time favourite air pistols, as I never tire of repeating in forums. I have handled (and sometimes even been privileged to own) hundreds of fine airguns spanning more than a century so I haven't chosen lightly!
Feinwerkbau spring pistols were made with such consistent precision over so many years, to a superb design that changed very little from first to last production.
In the history of manufactured goods there can't be many parallels. Harley Davidson, Airstream, Rolls Royce are names that spring to mind - an illustrious club to be a member of, to be sure!
Mike Driskill is as discerning an airgun collector as I've ever encountered and he clearly agrees. Need I say more? ;D

The only downside to this pistol is try to take it apart! Lol. One complicated design.
