Hear Ye, Hear Ye!
Come one, come all... Casual Match #8 of 2020/2021 is open for business.!!!
The Casual Match is a fun match. Shoot whatever you want at 10M (more or less depending on what you have available), use any position or rest that you prefer. See below for the details.
Rules are the same as for the 50’ Casual Match, except distance is 10M instead of 50’, using the 50’ target of choice. If you are limited to distance, shoot at whatever distance you have available. Classes are PCP Rifle (includes any rifle except spring or nitro pistons), Jumper (Piston Rifle, spring or gas), and Pistol. One entry may be made in each class.
The match to run 2 weeks, through Sunday, 3/14/21.
The 50’ rules and targets may be found at:

Chico.. what format is that?
It looks like a digital target. I like it!
But....is it one of the ones called out in the rules?

:o . . . well, it . . . ??? . . . it is a . . . . uuhhhhh . . . :-\. . . . ya see, . . . . . but . . . uuhhhhmmmm . . . let me think about this . . . ::)
okay - here goes . . . . this is the print-out you get when shooting at Camp Perry. the electronic scoring system is made be Kongsberg.
this is a scoring print-out of the official ISSF 10M Air Pistol Target. when shooting, the shooters are actually aiming at the regulation black bull. at 10 meters, you can't see the white scoring lines of any target, anyway.
each shot is electronically recorded and instantly shows on the monitor at each firing point. each string of (10) shots are recorded, along with directional arrows showing point of impact in relation from dead center of the bull. it also shows the distance of the shot from center bull in regards to the X and Y axis (i believe those measurements are in millimeters)
this particular string i posted is shot #41 thru #50. it took me a while to get record shots. a few of the 10-shot strings that followed this one were even better, but i did not want to post them.
SOOO . . . according to the rules: "Targets for this Match
Print one of the many options linked below appropriate for your pistol caliber. Standard ISSF Compliant 10 Meter Air Pistol targets or NRA B40 10 Meter Air Pistol targets may also be used in this match with 177 caliber pistols.
.177 caliber single and double full Black Center Bulls:"
this target is compliant with the rules set forth. even though i'm shooting at a regulation sized black bull, the print-out only shows the scoring rings and shot location in black, making it easier to see.
hope i didn't drag this out too much . . . i'm hoping when you come perch fishing, it's during the week and i can take you to the air gun range.

Hoosier Daddy,
Orion scoring systems has come out with a more economical electronic scoring system. currently, the scoring system is only available to schools and clubs, as it was designed for multiple firing points and has certain computer requirements.
HOWEVER, they are close to releasing a home version of their electronic scoring system. this version is for single firing points for those that shoot at home and already have a computer. preliminary pricing was estimated to be about $1200.00 - not bad for a home-based system.

Surprise visit by the kids toting grandkids, no match targets this week. :-\

Great shooting all!
Chuck, I was not bustin your chops...This is the "casual match" after all.
Instead, I was honestly intrigued! I had only seen electronic scoring in the Olympics.
Very Cool!!!
I am currently on a Mexican beach using a Kindle so lets see if I can start the next match today...
and get some past due results posted.

my bad - and my apologies . . . after i re-read that reply, i quess it could be understood that i was a bit defensive . . . didn't mean for it to be that way.
the electronic scoring is really fantastic. you can see all your hits instantly, without going down range. Camp Perry also has the 100 yard outdoor range (Petrarca Range) with electronic scoring. it is in the works for all Perry ranges to be scored electronically - even the Viale 1000 yard range.
when you get done in Mexico, we gotta make plans for you to come perch fishin on a sunday, followed by 100 yard outdoor shooting and 10M indoor shooting on monday ! good time to take out the "M" models :o
enjoy your time in Mexico - and realize you may well be missing the last snowfall of the season ;)
