I started with .177 and am having great success with killing the local squirrel over population. In the last four years, I've recorded 329 kills--all with .177. Longest shots (range finder reads) are 30 yards; shortest, 5 yards; yet my go to spots are at 15, 22, and 26 yards. This is all pesting for me--not hunting, since these tree rats have damaged my chimney sweep and soffits. I've used my HW30 for most of these kills; but have shot plenty with my Hammerli, HW95, HW97, Gamo Swarm Maxim, and Crosman Venom Dusk. I have no doubt that a .20 or .22 would be a more robust caliber; but, there's been no need just yet. Archie
