Set Up And Testing of New Beeman 2027 ;- )
wll2506:
Not to hijack anyone else's thread, I started this one !
Got my 2027 in today. First thing I did was to turn the hammer spring out to end and then turned 6 turns in for starters. Took stock off and lightened the trigger spring and screwed in sear screw -- reworked trigger is now semi bearable - oiled all moving parts with 30wdnd oil with a touch of Tungsten Disulfide powder.
I filled her up to 3000psi and put in an old style Monster of which I have plenty. I'm looking for a starting velocity of ~625fps and 35+ shots if I'm lucky.
I'm turning this large PCP Pistol into a small easy carry carbine for Starlings, HOSP's and the like .
I have a very light 4x rifle scope that I manually preset parallax at 25 yards. I will shoot this gun using the "Texas Butterfly" hold which I have did for many years in NRA pistol competition.
Hoping the Monsters give me acceptable accuracy as their BC will extend the range compared to lighter and faster pellets ~10.5gr pellets. For the first testing I plan on using a starting velocity using Monsters of ~ 625 to 635 fps to get my starting point which will be used for all three pellets --- and with that hoping the 10.5gr pellets start out around 700fps. Velocity will climb and fall with the bell curve !! I started with hammer spring out then screwed in till I reached the starting velocity I wanted with the Monsters !
Upon the end of testing I will add a sling so the "Carbine" sits on my chest while walking, always ready for action along with a moderator as I just bought a 13mm adapter !
I tested the three pellets I have many tins of, hoping one was HOSP accurate at 25 yards!
I'll start each pellet starting at 3000psi and see how they do.
Prelim Test Set Up:
Made hammer tension adjustment to 7 1/2 turns in from back --
Gun at this setting is not BYF.
-- it is loud !!
A couple shots each just be sure I'm on target and get an idea of velocity.
Monsters: 13.43gr - BC .026
Starting Vel ~ 632fps
Barracuda: 10.34gr - BC .022
Starting Vel ~ 717fps
CPUM: 10.5gr - BC .023:
Starting VEL~ 715fps
All these taken in the first few shots starting at ~3000psi --- .
We will test tomorrow to get shot count and real velocity.

Friday Morning Testing
Well it is tomorrow, I'm at my shooting spot it's about 6:00 in the morning I set up my steel plate at a lasered 25 yards and proceed to shoot, the gauge is reading around 2900 PSI (a little bit less, overnight cooling of tank).
I start out by shooting JSB Monsters - My 1st shot is 666fps, I keep shooting and shooting and shooting - Finally at the end of the 27th shot she is down to 663fps, I stop - the gauge is reading 1600 PSI.
As far as accuracy goes the gun is absolutely incredible, my 1st shot was almost a bull's eye, a bit to the left, I kept changing scope setting to be on - the gun shoots old style Monsters like the were made for this gun !
I was going to test the Crosman's and Beeman Kodiak's but why bother ?? I can tone down the speed and get more shots but If I'm getting 30 shots which I can get on a full tank of 3000 PSI - do I really need anymore for pesting situations ?
Yes, I am considering moving the hammer spring down 1/4 of a turn just to maybe level out the bell curve a bit other than that I'm absolutely ecstatic ! I could start from 2800psi and go down to 1800 and get a flatter Bell at maybe 25 + shots if I got picky, but for me this tune (maybe 1/4 less hammer spring tension) is awesome !
I'm getting well over 13.5+fpe out of a 177 cal pistol at the muzzle, with this having me over 9.5fpe at 35 yards !! I'll stick a fork in it -- it's done :-)

I leave that spot and went to another, I use my battery powered GX compressor to get the 2027 to 3000psi+ and I did with not sweat. I shot 5 shot till it hit about 2850 psi. Starting velocity was $640fps.
With a starting and ending of about the same and the nice bell curve, I'm not changing anything. If I want a more even shot string I'll just change my starting pressure. I can't see me going to a CPUM's or Barracuda's as I don't really need any more speed and I have major power shooting the Monsters.
This is one heck of a pesting handgun !!

Hmmm.
I have been debating getting another PP700SA. The PP700 is really a nice unit but at 200.00 dollars US and the added LDC adapter you're looking at 220ish. With the raised breech of the beeman.. there certainly seems to be room for a shroud. I imagine one could convert that to .20 cal without too much fuss. You're all just sneaky enablers !
This is a fun hobby. I am glad yours is working out for you ! That price is really just too good to pass up for a fun pistol. Amazon has them for $ 154 right now.

22mm OD (there is still a 2mm gap), 330mm L tube. Uses full volume of shroud. Very effective, I hear mostly hammer & hammer spring noise.

That shroud really changes the look of it. The grip/stock is a bit funky looking but it seems like a nice basement shooter, mouser, ratter. gracious... a rib on top similar to the Ted Williams pistol would be awesome. I am going to order a QB79 and on of these 2027s. I swore off inexpensive Chinese projects but I have to admit, it is a lot of fun to mess with them. Thanks for posting that.
RVaughn:
To me this pistol would be much more useful with a shortened rifle stock as big as it is.. that would make a great carbine!
I've wondered if perhaps another beeman rifle stock would fit without too much modification 🤔
