Title: Crosman 1077 with mods
Post by: Tucannon on August 24, 2018, 09:18:54 PM
I set this up for rat patrol it has a BSA laser and  LDC  it is fun for the backyard plunking as it is super quite.
It also has a camera mount.

Thanks, it is very accurate and quick to get on target the rats don’t stand much of a chance.  I do all my ratting in darkness and use a IR camera just paint the target.

I don’t think these are powerful enough for pesting. It barely knocked over the can :o

Yes the 1077 is not the best for pesting but for my set up it works good as I use a bait barrel my shots are from 25ft  my main objective is to get the rat in the barrel.
Sometimes the rat falls in by himself  I can then dispatch.  I use a Arlo home security camera that I can stream live on my phone it has good IR and lets me know if I have motion at the barrel.  I have not had any motion for two weeks and dispatched 7 rats.

Clever strategy, keeping the range(distance) constant. In stock configuration the 1077 feels a little anemic, mine was left in a closet for some time, due to this fact. I watched a few video's and read about some of the mods people have come up with, a few minor mods later and there was a noticeable uptick in the power, nothing spectacular, but much better.
Would like to see more pics please.

I should dust off my 1077 and get shooting before cooler weather. Thanks for reminding me of how fun it is to shoot. Look out S.C.A.M. (Soda Can Army Men) :P

Laser set up,
On the laser I put the switch on the forearm so I can hit it with my pinkie.

The lower part of the sight looked to be a weak link, I put a bridge of JB wield up where the arrow is pointing.

The sight set high enough to see the open sights and that makes it easy to adjust the laser for the first time.

On to the lead dust collector or LDC  I got this off the bay as it was stated to fit the 1077 and it works great.

It has a set screw but make sure it is not tight on the barrel shroud.

Here I’m checking that the LDC is not clipping.

Hmm, I never saw the need for an LDC on mine. Simply not very loud. Now take a 2240...yeah definitely. But then I live in the country where everyone owns powderburners. A little pop pop is nothing lol

It's a really nice LDC; I have the same one for my 1077 and it's very well made and effective.  Nice parts on a cheap gun  8)  I really like the setup so that you could retain the open sights.   I also use a home security cam (Nest) to detect pests.

I took a few rats with the 1077 and 7.9gr Crosman Premier Pointed pellets, but I feel that my particular 1077 lacked the power and consistency in accuracy to make clean kills at distances over 10yds.  When one rat took 4 badly placed shots from the 1077, it was enough for me to move up to PCPs and start building an arsenal of Marauders.

If you're ever in the market for an external CO2 tank conversion, feel free to send me a PM; I have all the conversion parts from Alliance Hobby that I've been thinking of selling, as I moved on to PCP before I could ever use them.
