Has anyone ever tried a "heat-a-seat" or "thermaseat" as a bum bag?  The filling purports to be closed cell foam, which is probably not ideal, but even if it isn't, it looks like the bag could be filled with whatever preferred filling pretty easily.

17x17x5 looks to be a pretty decent size for it.

Those thermaseats are not stable at all.  The filling will compress bad.  I ordered my bum bag from the UK, but I don't remember what store.  Buckwheat hulls can be ordered from ebay.

Thanks, Cliff.  I just can't get excited about paying 60 bucks plus shipping for a nylon bag. I see a couple for 25 Lb (after VAT) on UK sites, but it doesn't look like they ship.  I think I'm going to get one of the heat seat things for 10 bucks and if the foam is no bueno, slit it open and use something else.  Those buckwheat hulls are not cheap.  Someone is making a killing on those things.

  Those buckwheat hulls are not cheap.  Someone is making a killing on those things.

Bean bag beads ... Shredded cork ... Cheerios  :o or Fruit loops   :o :o can work too.

Idea is to pack firm when set upon, not break down too fast and be fairly light weight for carrying.  O' and not be food for critters while stored  :-[
