Hey everyone, I'm new to the big bore side but not the forums. Just got my Eldy's Big Bore .357 kit installed, and with factory internals on a mild ported factory tophat, she pushed 144 fpe with the 115gr air venturi round nose bullets at 2600 psi. I now have a 25 gram striker weight(diy) (Thanks to Eldy for the collar shaft idea!), and a Talon Tunes Quick Change Tophat, but I havent tested since the mods. Any idea what to expect?

Very nice. I think with the right tune, you should push the 200fpe mark.

Thank you Monkey! I'd wager that you're not far off. I have some 215gr spitzers coming hopefully next week, cant wait to try them! Not sure how big of a difference the tophat and striker made (plus a couple of other mods), but it's shooting hot enough to send these big soft slugs (115gr) right through a 1/8" aluminum sign at 20 yards like a hot knife through butter. That aluminum sign has been a benchmark of sorts through the years across many air guns and though some have made a big dent, very few have gone through, and most you could tell barely made it. These slugs are passing right through though leaving clean holes, metal flowers on the exit side.

Sweet bro, nice to meet you! Eldy was alot of fun to work with, even after the sale we continue to talk, which to me is way different than other businesses I've dealt with. He makes a great kit too, the only things I had to change were moving the barrel bushings just a smidge for my setup, and trimming the tophat adapter to get rid of the slight bit of valve opening overlap. I think initially my Chrony numbers were lower simply because the valve opening was restricted a little, but it was easy to fix. I cant say enough good things about Eldy, but you know what I mean. I'll be getting the chrony back out today...

Sweet looking Condor, I wanted to keep mine a shorter package for pigs and coyotes here in the Hill country where I do most of my hunting (also I'm a bow hunter so used to closer shots)

So I took it out and to chrony some shots after a few small mods. Low and behold 207 fpe is what I came up with. I think there is still more to squeeze because turning the power wheel had a positive effect on fps and I'm not done modding yet.

I knew you had it in you to get that 200+fpe. Now more fine tuning to see what you can really get of it. Good going Christopher. Soon it will be time to join the long range club, say, start at 100yds then stretch to the 350yd mark.

Thank you Joe, I really appreciate that and you were right on the money btw. The long range club is my eventual goal, with more fpe (and probably weight in different places to counteract the recoil that didn't exist before), being my immediate goal. I'd like to be right under the Texan maybe in the 300-350 fpe range, I think at that point, the platform is where it should be per caliber.

Anything over 300 FPE would be quite an accomplishment, requiring either over 3000 psi and/or a 30" or longer barrel.... or Helium....

What about heavier pellets? Also, a stronger spring and five more grams to hammer striker weight? Right now I'm getting close to 200 fpe at under 2500psi. The shots were showing 170-180 fpe sub 2500 psi which continues a linear decline, until I hit 1600 psi, then there is a rapid drop off. I see 300fpe as very possible right now. Heck I got a 60 fpe increase just by increasing striker weight and installing the talontunes qcth.

The FPE limit is based on pressure times barrel length.... but good luck with your build.... Once you have enough hammer strike to keep the valve open until the bullet exits the muzzle, there is nothing more to be gained, except wasting air.... If you run extremely heavy bullets (which in turn limits the velocity for a given pressure and barrel length) you can edge closer to the theoretical FPE limits, but have to accept a poorer trajectory of course.... What length is your barrel?....

I understand what you are saying, but I'm going to try for it anyways. I just measured the barrel and it is 25.125" from lead-in to muzzle.

I did everything myself, so parts were either ordered or fabricated, or repurposed. Here is how it looks currently. Yes that is a barret style compensator, which just happens to work great as an air stripper.
