FT scope advice

Looking for help choosing a scope for FT.  Are there suitable scopes for around $US300

I'm going to buy a Mueller 8-32x44 Side Focus.

It's an exceptional scope for 250 bucks.  Do a search......you won't find a bad review of it.  There is a member here, SciGuy, that started a thread on it in the Optics forum.

It does not have a mil-dot reticle......and it will not work on a springer.

It has 1/8 MOA adjustment.

For PCP open, though, it should be a very good quality scope for the money.

I just bought a Hawke scope from pyrmaid air, along with mounts and 4 tins of pellets...after tax and everything was $402.  Placed order Sunday, and will be here on Wednesday.

Either that or you can go with the falcon line of scope.  Talked with a rep and was told their scopes are air gun rated with secure mounts.

Like MT said I loved the Mueller when I had my PCP.  Too bad they really aren't meant for springers.  Are you shooting PCP or Piston class?  Open, Hunter, or WFTF?

Thanks Mike,  sorry, should of mentioned I was wanting it for a springer.
An open class HW97,  with PCP recoil, now that would be an achievement.


Have been considering the Hawke Varmint 6-24x44, but unsure how it performs at closer range, will look up the Falcons

Don't skimp if you are going for Worlds.  A used B&L Elite would be a good starting point, either 6-24 or 8-32.  I have seen positive and negative comments on the Falcon.  Have never seen a neg on the BL Elite.  For the BL look used as it appears the new ones won't focus to 10 yards. 

I went the Hawke route because I've had good look with a particular dealer finding picking ones with really good glass.  If I ever get another FT scope it will be a used BL.

I love my falcon on my .22lr, though that is something completely different from air guns.   I currently have the 4-14x44 ffp scope and it works great for me.

Funny, I sold a Mueller with a comma side wheel earlier this year... Since you shot recently at the GOB field with said scope, I can only assume it was you that I sold the scope too... small world.  Yeah, I miss that scope, it worked really well on my Marauder.  I will probably be acquiring another once I go scope shopping for my latest Marauder project.

That looks to be one of early sought after ones.   As long as it isn't a counterfeit, it is one of the scopes I mentioned.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I just got my Hawke 6-24x50 scope and mounted it in a bkl mount.  Went to zero everything in but found I have to use the third mil down to zero the scope!  What gives?  Hate to just leave these rings in a box as they were $60!!  Do I need to get different things, out will this scope just not work on the 300s?

Try swapping the front and rear rings.
