I am south of St. Louis. I think the St. Louis airgun club may be defunct at this point but I dont really know. Their web site is gone. I shoot mainly PCPs at this point.

I'm a 56 year old kid in the South St Louis County area. Would like to get together with other shooters for fun and learning more about air rifles.

From what I can see of what's left of the St. Louis airgun club web site they used to have a pretty good club. The president (I think he lived in Fenton) was on Yellow and starting getting kind of flaky in postings and emails to put it bluntly. Must have been some serious personal issues going on. Since then it is dead and I think the members ran for cover. I think it said they used to shoot up near Highland, IL which is where I had my homebuilt airplane and too far. The Arnold range has an airgun facility (but they really no longer know what an airgun is with our modern guns - maybe 25 yards and I just shot on the regular rifle ranges) on 55 but it is expensive to join (I just quit) and you might be able to shoot at Antire road on 44 but that is pretty regimented and not much fun.
Someone with about five acres or so who loves to shoot and visit is best. My backyard is actually airgun heaven and I shoot nearly every day but officially we are not supposed to be shooting in the subdivision so I wouldn't host guests. I have several close friends with acres of woods in the area I shoot and hunt at but I would not ask them to host others because most of them do not shoot themselves but just let me as a friend - one wants half of my deer meat. :-)
I am 56 as well.
Nate - I almost bought a house in Villa Ridge on 5 acres. I live on two acres now but have many acres of common ground heavy woods surrounding my backyard. We have several deer every day eating corn in my yard. My advice is always if you don't have a place to shoot - airguns may not be the best hobby. I know so many friends that bought airguns that live in apartments or on postage stamp sized lots. It may or may not work out from what I have seen.

Hello all... Merry Christmas to you if that is ok to say. I live in the Saint louis area and am very new to the site, so just happened to see this. Just putting my name out there if any of you gentleman decide to get together keep me in mind. I do not have a spread of air guns as some of you may, but dearly enjoy shooting what I do have. Which is a tuned marauder, a Air Arms 510 and this Cz replica. Appreciate you taking the time to read this in advance. I have been looking at other guns recently... the Fx boss, edgun, or maybe one of these crickets. The bull pup idea is keeping me from going for the Boss... I'm sure some of you guys could shed an opinion or two?!
Thanks again and take care---Scott

I'm an hour + change north of STL in rural IL. It's a bit far to drive into town on a regular basis for club shoots, but I'd love to join in on some sort of group airgun action. There is an active airgun group that shoots in Highland IL on Monday nights that may want to participate, and I think we have some forum regulars around Effingham IL. My work schedule would limit my availability to weekends/holidays.

The St. Louis club was shooting up at Highland, Il I think so maybe that some of the leftovers from that club. I flew my Light Sport airplane around Highland quite a bit and also flew gliders occasionally. Considering how few and infrequently these posts here are I doubt a get together is merited. The airgun forum I am on (Talon) most of the time is rampant with constant activity even just in the bullpups section. It is an international forum and I have really met fine folks from around the globe there. Any real interest in airguns be sure to join but expect a hundred or more emails a day just in the bullpup section. The real airgun knowledge is over there.

Thanks for the information, I wasn't aware of that site. I think it's inevitable that more shooters show up in the area, the "new member" posts get a bunch of hits every day from all over.
I think that if local parks departments and gun clubs started organizing events as safe and family oriented, this sport is at the right point to grow exponentially.

I am new to the area, O'Fallon, IL, and joined the Highland Pistol and Rifle club in Highland, IL. They have a Silhouette Match every Monday in their indoor range. Signup starts around 6 PM. It is mostly rifles, which suits me since I wobble too much with a pistol.
Take a look at their website, they are a group of friendly folks, who have given me some good advise.

I got to shoot with them once, and I agree they are a great bunch. I just don't get to play because I'm usually out of town during the week.

I am a pilot also and flew at St. Louis Soaring at Highland occasionally as well as the small runway at Pierron. My airplane was hangered north of Breese, IL on a private grass strip. I live in Missouri, though, south of St. Louis so Highland is a bit too far to go shooting when I have the perfect habitat in my backyard with several benchrests off of a covered deck on a second floor. My competitive shooting days are over (St. Louis Bench Rest club 80s early 90s) but I still shoot the airguns nearly daily (my KalibrGun .177 Compact Cricket is my current favorite) . I have mainly higher end PCPs and love the bullpups. Sold a Marauder rifle and a AF Condor. My problem is I have three main hobbies now and they are all a drain on time and money (guns, RC Flying, and Honda scooters). Luckily, I work from home with a lot of flexibility.

Although there seems to have been some discussion about St. Louis area air gun enthusiasts getting together, the posts are now several years old. So, let me bring this up again, is anyone interested in getting together to plink, 10m target shoot, field target shoot, hunt or whatever? I'm in Fenton.

I'm mostly just available on weekends because of work. That said, if you have the place I'll do my best to make the time. And my brother and his boys live close to Fenton, I'll see if they can be wrangled in as well.

There are at least 6 people within about an hour of St. Louis on the AirgunNation map.
https://www.zeemaps.com/airgun_nation
The GTA map link is below. It might be fun to get a group from each forum together to have a semi-competitive fun shoot.

I can't shoot outdoors here and have limited indoor room. I guess we're lacking a common outdoor shooting venue?

Pretty much. Once the venue is set up, you can crowd source the shoot details...what to shoot at, when to do it, who brings the barbecue...

I've been looking some airgunners looking to get together and start a new airrifle club and have some shooting events. I live about an hour south of st.Louis and like some others we need to find some land or a gun club we could hold our events at. Everyone interested speak up and let's put something together. If we need to meet somewhere and get things rolling so we can shoot and have some fun. You don't need a two thousand dollar target rifle to join a airrifle you bought from wal mart will do fine. We can help you get all the accuracy we can from your gun. That's what we airgunners do, we stick together and help when we can. Looking forward to hear from everyone interested!
