Proposed rule change to the Classifieds

I like Diana 24's, too, and missed out on the recent one sold here (and the peep sights, dang it), but I decided that, not being a party to the transaction, I wouldn't vent my grief there, vis a vis the rules.  Seems it doesn't deter others from continuing to chat, so here's my proposal:

Once an item has been sold and all buyer/seller information is in hand, either lock the thread or delete it.

The 24 post has knocked two or three other items off the front page.  I know that I've complained like an old lady about this, but, if I'm selling or buying, it's making the GTA Classifieds one of the least productive venues on the air gun forums.  We have more sections than anyone else out there with the exception, perhaps, of the huge Airgunbbs Brit forum.  In other words, there's a lot of opportunities to chat aside from the ads.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.  ;)

I'm in full agreement with RF on this.  It's gotten so bad that I don't bother advertising here, or even checking the Classifieds, and I consider this my "home" forum.  Sorry guys, but the Yellow Classifieds is much better disciplined, and far more productive because of it.  Maybe the answer is to simply copy what they're doing.  Don't think I'd want to see completed transactions deleted, it's too good a resource for going back and checking what market value is/was.  Although sometimes a PITA, I think I even like the no edit setting on the YF Classifieds.  Sure, we all goof sometimes, but you simply post a reply to your own ad to clarify something, if needed.  It's another way to help preserve the archive.  What we have here is chaos, and pretty useless chaos at that.  Later.

Thanks, Gene! I agree with the others here on this issue, and this will be a big improvement. Thanks also RF for leading the charge.
