how can i tell the age of an old crosman 38t?

any suggestions? i've looked but can't find anything on it.

Only thing i can tell you is that they were last made in 1976 i think.

From what I found on the Crosman mfg dates site, they were made from 1964-1976, with a second variant made from 1973-1976. Not sure if there's any way to narrow it down to year.

thanks for the input. doesn't hold air right now. i'll get it out and fix it and take some pics soon. it's in fair to good condition.

If it has a 9 digit serial number, then the date code is in the first 3 digits.

  The 22 caliber with the metal rear sights was the earliest version and this changed to plastic about 1972 or so.
The 177's came along after the change over to plastic.
