Question on charging PCP with air

I have an FX Verminator Mk1.  It has the Cyclone/Gladiator Mk1 action.  This rifle has a small air tube in the front
and a bottle tank in the back that alsi acts as the buttstock.  I've had this rifle for a lnog time, since new.
It's been spotless.

My grandson is coming up and I want to move him up from a BB gun to an air rifle.  This Verminator
will work well as it's stock is collapsible and will fit him better.  Only prblem is the trigger is too light.

Since I had adjusted a Cyclone trigger before I started in on this Verminator.  I quickly ran into a snag
trying to get the fore stock off so I could get to the trigger.  So I called FX and asked them for help.
They told me what to do, which included taking off the rear bottle, then taking off the barrel, and finally
taking off the front air tube.  Then I took the forestock off and adjusted the trigger and began to put the
rifle back together.  I put the front air tube on first.  When I began to turn the rear bottle
back on air started coming out through the barrel when the valve in the carbon fiber tank was opening,  so I
immediately backed off.   I decided that the valve in the gun must be open and that the front lir tube
was empty.  So I tried to put air in the front tube and same thing,  air immediately began to come out
of the barrel as soon as I cracked the valve on my fill tank.

I called FX back but they did not call me back Friday. 


Does this story sound familiar to any of you guys ?   All help would sure be appreciated.

 Did you try cocking the gun first to relieve pressure on the valve poppet by the hammer spring ?

No expert but I try to read on here….cocking the gun and a quick blast of high pressure air has help others in the past close poppet….…good luck

Yes on the above recommendation.

Just to clarify, when they cock the gun, that means move the cocking handle to the "full" cock position, and leave it there.  Do not return the arm to its shooting position, until after you've got air flowing into the cylinders and have a good bit of pressure in the cylinders.

And yeah, while a quick hit of air is good...DO NOT fast fill the guns cylinders to full.  This will cause moisture to form.  This is a bad thing.

Thanks for these tips guys.  I tried doing these things and no go.  So I called FX again and got through.  They gave similar advice but still no go.  I sent the rifle to them.
