Crosman Custom Shop purchases

This is an FYI. In May 2023 I bought a 2400KT .22 with 24 inch Crosman barrel. It arrived with manual, certificate of authenticity, etc. and one page titled Megalink-Ballistic test. I don't know how to post pictures. It shows what appears to be a full size target and a handwritten note saying center to center 5 shot group is .523 inch and 575 fps at muzzle. There was a bunch of other printed info with little to no explanation. I messaged Crosman and was advised the target was at a distance of 10 meters and pellets used were Crosman domed 14.3.

I wanted a Walther barrel for better accuracy. Crosman would not sell me just a barrel so in August I ordered another 2400KT with the 14.6 Walther barrel. The Megalink test target shows CTC group .106 inch and 509 fps at muzzle. MUCH better accuracy.

Hello Alan, I inspected both of your Custom Shop guns. First and foremost I hope you’re happy with them. I do not put any other information on the print out because velocity and and CTC group size is what is considered the most relevant information on the print out. It is not a full sized target, the circle around the group is to illustrate what the average radius is. On your print out is written the fps are at the muzzle. That’s because the velocities recorded by the Megalink system records data at the target.

Last I knew you should be able to purchase a LW barrel for having ordered a Custom Shop gun, or other parts for that matter. Please don’t hold me to that as things may have changed unbeknownst to me but I will check.

One thing I would like to be clear about is that the group on your print out is actual size. By target I meant the target as a whole, but the group itself is true to actual size. The Megalink system only measures group size, not where on an actual paper target the group impacts.

Daryl, Thank you very much for the replies. You have cleared up several things. I've had a liking for Crosman and Benjamin CO2 for years and enjoy tinkering with the newer ones. I used to live in Missouri and had bunches of squirrels to shoot. Mostly in the 20-30 yard range. Now I mostly punch paper. Do you use something like a Ransom rest for the target shooting?

Hi Alan, yes the guns are accuracy tested in a mechanical fixture to eliminate any human error.

Allen,  on the one with the .523 inch 5 shot group, hand lapping the barrel with JB bore paste might improve it quite a bit.
