Anyone else bought a copy of 2nd edition (just released) Encyclopedia of Spring Air pistol from Protek in UK?

Yes indeed - this is an incredible resource for all spring-powered air pistols.  John Griffiths spent many years (decades?) putting together his first edition published in 2008, but the second has even more content plus many color photos.

The 1st Edition - still a very fine book - is common on used book sites (Amazon, ABE, etc.) I could be wrong, but am not aware of any source except Protek Supply for the expanded, definitive 2nd Edition. It is not cheap, but it is worth it.

It's worth buying the second edition from the UK if you can afford it - the author has extensively updated it and best of all, virtually all the many hundreds of pics are in full colour. It's a beautiful thing to own.

I replying to Jeffs comment guys I am not so sure how all this webite post stuff works.   

I searched the web repeatedly trying to find a 1ts ed but I never saw one so I bought 2nd ed as some other member commented to me.  So yeah it is a great book for me.  Hours fun planning to find the next prize for my spring air pistol collection.

Spent some of my birthday cash on this since I never found a first edition at a price I was willing to part with; I'm a bit freer with birthday cash. My only complaint was the shipping cost, YIKES! (once again, a lot freer with b-day cash).  Now I'm on the hunt for a few pairs of those weird white gloves you see folks wear on Antiques Roadshow.

Cost aside, you're actually lucky you didn't find a 1st edition. The 2nd edition is so much better.

That does sound ridiculously high for shipping.

I suspect the reason may be that it's over 5kgs, which is the maximum weight for parcels sent from the UK as 'printed papers', the subsidised rate for printed material?

Could anyone with a copy weigh it please? I can't lay my hands on my copy right now.

The price of $120 is the cost of the book plus postage to the USA.  The books itself costs about $67 at the current exchange rate.

Ah, $120 sounds pretty reasonable including a large, thick hardbound book as well.

Trev this is high praise from someone whose prodigious airgun-related purchasing began nearly 80 years ago.
