Should Crosman bring back the 2260?

The thing about these 'lego' builds is.... you better love it because you'll never get your money back out of it.
Don't believe me? Go price a Boyd's thumbhole stock, a GMAC repeater breech and a Fortitude shroud kit... if you can even get them anymore. That's not even including the upgraded trigger group and other odds and ends. Then add that to the price of a Maximus.

I learned this the hard way lol, repeater breeches were gone by he time I learned about them, but I have way more than I can ever get out of this one in it.

wacky cheap Chinese gimmick guns = higher profit margins. Crosman/Velocity outdoors also doesnt need the inventory on hand for those that stocking the 2260 would entail

and have neglected their classic lineup = less profit margins, and many parts/guns to keep inventoried and warehoused.


Also bring back the good pump arm for the 2289 backpacker. => Absolutely! Ive seen some walnut versions of that, and somewhere someone has to have a 3d file for that part

If they do they need to upgrade it and make a better job of it than the 362.  There are several CO2 guns on the market right now that make the old 2260 obsolete.  The 2260 is a nice gun but a modern QB78, XS60C, or Chaser make it look old.

they all can look back to the 160/180...

That's why Max Maximus wears a 160 stock... 6 shot 50 fpe 2% es .22 160 grandson all Crosman..

I Like to restock in walnut when I can, but I grew up with the old Crosman stocks that I think are quarter sawn Sycamore wood.  At least that is what I read somewhere so I have a lot of fond memories owning 160s and a few 1400s with these stocks.  Gun Parts Inc still has some old 160 stocks listed for about $24 ea.  That is where I got these three.  They are a bit rough but refinish nice with a little work.  If you are lucky, you may get one with a pretty dramatic figure.

A lot of the old Crosman stocks were elm.

  I think you are right on Elm now that I think about it.  I've heard both woods mentioned in the past but never knew for sure.

I prefer wood too but my .20 cal PCP, built on a Cothran 2260 tube, wears a fortitude stock. I liked it better than the 2260 wood stock that I have kept with a 2240 hipac + 2 extensions for ??

The 2260 wood stock has a horrendous grip.

part of the reason I can not bond with the stock Max stock...

my trigger finger falls to the crook rather than the middle of the pad like I prefer...have to pay a tiny bit of attention... in the 160 stock could/did cheat it forwards just a bit for it to fall naturally to my preference... do not even have to think about it...

Personally I think they should just offer the 2260 stock and trigger group as options for the 2400kt in the custom shop.

I think the forearm might have to be a bit shorter, but otherwise it could very easily be an option.

Since the 180 and 160 went I think the only traditional single shot co2 rifles they've had were the 262 in the early 90's ( a better stock then any 2260 ever had ) and the 2260.
