Should Crosman bring back the 2260?

They currently make all the parts except the stock, maybe they could make a polymer or affordable wood version. Seems like it would be a good plinker, a worthy compliment to the 362 pumper. Add a metal trigger and it would be a real gem. And for that matter, why don’t they sell the 2250 anymore? (Except in the UK or the custom shop). Not to mention discontinuing the Discovery which was another great stalwart.

In my opinion they have a catalog full of wacky cheap Chinese gimmick guns and have neglected their classic lineup. Also bring back the good pump arm for the 2289 backpacker.

 They are releasing the  3677 / 3622, in synthetic stock, perhaps a wood one to follow, just bulk fill and tune for CO2 if needed.

If they do they need to upgrade it and make a better job of it than the 362.  There are several CO2 guns on the market right now that make the old 2260 obsolete.  The 2260 is a nice gun but a modern QB78, XS60C, or Chaser make it look old.

I like old, but will take HPA over CO2. Its a shame crosman is discontinuing support of Disco rebuild components.

I came to the party late …had no opportunity with 2260….but from appearance and reading…..Im quite happy with my 3 QB 78’s….shot the ar2078 yesterday ..nice afternoon…having said that …ever since I got my rov/air been shooting my PCP’s more….good luck…

 I was so not impressed I parted out mine and built 2 other guns. Put the 2260 barrel om my 362 AR and put aL.22 LW barrel and Safe Pack on the 2260.

 Now off to work

    I have always liked the ease of modifying the 2260 platform.  A custom valve from Mountain Air will shoot 14.3g pellets over 650fps on warm days for about 15 shots.  I added a walnut stock and an aluminum breech from when RJ machine had a special run on them.  With a TKO, Thompson Center rear sight and a cut/crowned barrel to 20" it is super accurate. It is exactly what I wanted in a CO2 rifle, but I did have to spend some money and build it myself.  I think for a while Crosman did offer a steel breech model.

I’d probably buy one at a reasonable price. (The drifter is not priced reasonably imo.) At least you could fit the steel breech if you wanted but I’ve been keeping iron sights on all my guns lately.

I don’t think it would be obsolete, airguns are meant to be a little old school, part of their charm. You don’t see people who shoot bow and arrow complaining they don’t have enough high capacity automatic arrow magazines.

Looks good. People would buy it based on the reputation, the brand and the classic aesthetics.

Tried to build a stainless Don Cothran 2260 years ago, but it was just too heavy, so I sold the tube to a CAPOF member and ordered 2250 and 2260 tubes from him instead; the latter being PCP.

Yes, very heavy ‘cuz of the solid rod the 2260 has as powerlet pusher.

Converted to HPA and planted in a 180 stock. If I remember right, the whole thing began as a 2240 pistol. Not much of that left anymore.

The 2240 was on sale recently little over 40$... my youngest wanted one handed me the $ to order... soon as it got here and I went to work... steel Breech, a 19" .177 barrel, 1389 stock and a Tasco 3-7x20 scope... I think I paid 15$ for the 1760 barrel in 2013...

then I bored out two barrel bands to .5" and sleeved the Barrel with .5" od aluminum tube...

right around 8 accurate fpe with 7.9g CPHP..

Bout 130$ total including scope... we are happy with my version of a 1740 carbine..  

Fills that 1760/2260 niche nicely enough to not miss them...

But...

if I run across a good deal on a 160/180..

That's why Max Maximus wears a 160 stock... 6 shot 50 fpe 2% es .22 160 grandson all Crosman..
