I just read all 17 pages by selecting titles pertinent (or of interest) on this gate and didn't see anyone asking this question. Probably means it's been asked in another gate like maybe back room. Probably asked many times?

I went inactive and recently came back and have noticed in the course of searching for certain posts or threads that many have lost their pictures. I get that there used to be free services that now charge a fee and some hosting may have gone the way of the dodo bird.

What I'm wondering though, is some folks are like me, will try and keep pictures on a hdd, backup, or thumb drive. Have, or could "we" determine which threads have these broken links, which posters are still active, and "request" the OP's to consider uplinking a substitute pic somewhere, perhaps a special gate for that so the old threads don't all get bumped?

Another thought is archival of linked pics to a backup drive(?).

Again, yes, I know what I'm asking is a programmer's nightmare, an expense, a long process, and even requires a time consuming process to determine feasibility and implementation strategy. Not to mention it's probably a subject that's already been beat to death and I just looked for it in the wrong place.

If this post is as redundant and pointless as I suspect, feel free to delete it with my blessings  :D

Back_Roads:
 For a few months after the Photo Bucket fiasco we were allowed to update photos that were affected, using other free apps or the GTA Media library. Not sure how many were able to update all their photos.
