I don't think the muzzle break is so much a muzzle break as it is a cocking aid for that carbine length barrel. If you do get it off you may find the barrel underneath is unfinished, as in not blued. I've not taken mine off but I did put a couple set screws in the rear sight mounting holes to keep dirt from building up i n there.
If there on that tight your going to have to heat the break up with a propane torch and knock it off with a block of wood and a hammer, I've had breaks that took a lot of heat before the Loctite broke loose, if you pay attention, you can hear the Loctite break loose from the heat, then it should come off.
