Mike, wait, if hold over on FT is “just a miss”, then why isn’t it a miss on game? I guess it depends on the size of the game you’re hunting?
+1 on the light weight guns. This time of year 35 yards is the max you can see in the thick North GA woods so the Notos is my goto for hunting. By mid October, the woods are a little less dense so I will swap to my other "little" gun, my Airforce Escape UL .25 cal. Heeeere piggy, piggy, piggy!

Just imagine a 10 ring on his head. 🎯
I don't hunt, I pest. I don't normally even take shots at anything past 35.
i have been recording the distances of all my kill shots while hunting for the last 8 years. squirrels: average shot on a squirrel is 34 yards and this varies on the time of the year. during the early days of the season when the trees are still holding leaves, the shots rarely are over 20 yards. as the season progresses and the leaves fall, the shots become farther. my closet kill shot was at 3 yards and the longest was 53. because of this, i bring paper targets with me when i go out. i scan the woods with a range finder and find the average shooting distance. then sight the rifle in at that distance. i always start out with the rifle sighted in at 30 yards so this takes very little time.rabbits: records show the average shot is 53 yards. i have never taken a rabbit in the woods, only in cut fields or in open areas so i can't get close without spooking them. pesting: 50+ yards. most pesting is done on chippers, starlings, and ground squirrels while setup in a blind or an elevated position.
