I currently ride a Suzuki V-Strom 650 gas bike for pleasure. Over the years I have owned over 25 different bikes of pretty much all types. This V-Strom being one of my favorites for sure.  Also had a KLR 650. For comfort having a 36 in inseam and being older I lowered the pegs an inch and made my own taller custom seat for my V-Strom. If I could find an E-Dual Sport style bike that would fit my frame I think I would consider it after reading your post.

I almost bought a V-storm 650 not long ago, used for 5 grand was a good deal and I liked the bike,

If you want to stay in the same bracket of bigger, heavier Adventure bikes I think the Energica Experia would be the bike I would go for






I know, I know they are expensive but after the initial cost they are basically free with just about no maintenance required and so many upsides.

Having grown up on bikes I though I would be missing the clutch and gear shifting,....not at all, the instant torque at any point is exilarating, the lack of noise and vibrations are a pure pleasure.

There's few pure Dual sports out the in the E-moto world, the Zero DSR and FX basically are it for now but things are moving fast and manufacturers recognize the advantages in the E-moto world so I expect a boom in the models to come to market.


My bike is more of a dirt bike that I turned into Dual Sport, still a pretty light bike for this cathegory at 280 pounds it fits me better then bigger bikes where I live now,....BTW my bike has a 37.5" seat hight.

Thanks for reply. I think I may be more interested in going more towards what you have. Lighter weight and a little more dirt oriented would be fine at this point.

Then you should really check out the Zero FX,.......better quality bike then mine with a bit better performance

One of the big e-cycle companies just announced price cuts across the board.  Popped up in my newsfeed but don't recall the details.

As solid state and other-tech batteries come into play, the current crop of awesomeness will likely drop massively in price to clear space for the new Hotness.

It's happening,

Technology is advancing very quickly, bikes are coming out with 200 miles ranges and can be re=charged in 20-30 minutes,


Prices are already dropping significantly, and as the infrastructure grows, and people see the light and change their views and are not fighting this so more E-vehicles get sold prices will drop fast.

I'm in Brooklyn NYC for a couple days and I can not believe how many electric bikes, motorcycles, scooters and skateboards I see on the streets.   They are everywhere and by far outnumber gas powered bikes.    Also happened to walk by a Rivian store.   I had to check it out.   Son and I were the only customers so we got a great tour.   I had a hard time getting through the truck door into the drivers seat but it was fairly comfortable once I was in there (I'm a pretty big guy so a lot of cars are impossible for me to drive)

Yeah the electric revolution is for real and will only get better as people realize that and manufacturers are able to develope the tech further with sales increasing.

Just go to an Hardware store nowadays and you will see fleets of E-tools, Got my boss to buy the E-GO zero turn mower and it's phenomenal.

Yeah a good bike is amazing regardless of power plant, I just love the simplicity, quietness, lack of vibration, lack of smell, no maintenance and most of all lack of trips to the gas stations that E-motos offer.

I also grew up and been riding my all life but really can't think to go back to gas bikes, once the infrastructure is up with charging stations as common as gas stations and the charge time ( that is getting faster and faster ) in the 15-20 minutes range there's really going to be no reasons not to have an E-moto,.....off course unless you love noise, fumes smell, gas cost, huge maintenance 

Glad you liking the guns, I do miss them but there's times in your life that require you to pivot,.......giving that guy until Sunday next week then you can have that .357 if you still want it.

My bike cost 50 cents to re-charge so basically half a penny per mile cost to ride,
no clutch to go wrong, no gears or transmission to fail, no alternator to go bust, no starter to fail, no battery to go flat, no carb or fuel injectors to fix/tune, no valves or top end to re-build, no fuel or air filter ( that is a big one riding off road ) to clean/change, no constant oil changes and coolant changes, no muffler to burn yourself  ( I don't care how good of a rider you are that will happen to everyone eventually, more then once )

But for me the silent, vibration free ride is what really makes me happy, I really thought I would miss the changing gears we grow up with but not so, love the instant full power delivery at any speed, love that both my feet are free since I have my back break where the clutch is.


Anyway, I realize Electric vehicles aren't for everyone but I tell you this bikes still makes me grin from ear to ear everytime I ride and that is priceless.

The factory miles figures are way conservative, way conservative.....I bought the bike expecting that and I tell you I'm pleasantly surprised that the figure is much, much higher.

Those are hella nice, Manny.  I can only imagine what's going to change as solid state batteries it the market over the next couple of years.  And I'm really looking forward to converting my F-160's straight-6 to EV powere once the kits are what I consider "worth the investment".

That is also the beauty of this things, as batteries improve you can just ad on the aftermarket supply is huge already, I'm sure that within a year there's going to be a battery I can get that will double my range ( did that with my other bike )
