GTA Shooting Match Gates

It sure seems strange that there is no activity on any of the above shooting gates these days.  It's like we've had our competitive edge beat out of us.

 Winter months we complained it was too cold, now some reason has been too darn hot or windy. Maybe we need a extreme conditions match

I know here after 11:00am it's way too hot to plink, and I'm standing in the shade where it's 102f.

Yes, it was warm in the indoor range (garage) this year.

It's not just the shooting gates. It seems to me like the entire forum has slowed down.


I figured out a long time ago that competition isn't my thing. I'm too competitive and usually just end up frustrated. I scratch the itch by trying to improve my 100 yard groups, so I'm shooting against myself and not others.

I'm the same way. There's no tougher competitor me vs. myself vs. I.
As much as I would like to, I can't compete with the high dollar quality equipment a lot of competition shooters have.
So, I'll stick to my 50' range and try to improve on my grouping as well.

I also am choosing smaller and smaller targets. There's a great satisfaction in hitting a 1" Christmas ornament ball from 50' with my pistol.
That puts a smile on my face for sure.

With the lack of participation I simply quite starting new matches to see if anyone would notice. 
 Craig PM'ed me out of curiosity being the previous Mod.... and one other member asked.
 But until now it seemed no one really cared.

I posted a question early on on what could be done to increase awareness.

Want to try again for the "Off Season Casual Matches" they seem to get more takers.

I do not shoot FT anymore.

I really enjoy the matches, and I’m happy to participate year round. Unfortunately I don’t think I ever got a whole season in without missing a week or more. I never ‘won’ anything, but enjoyed shooting ‘with’ others who enjoy airguns. If they came back I’d do my best to support.

 Seems the show us your groups thread is slow also. Wonder if a fun reactive target challenge would N/M would have to video it to prove it LOl . I was thinking a Tic Tac @ 10 and hot dog @ 100

I enjoyed the matches when I lived in the apartment.  I was alone and it was NBD to set up and shoot a little.
Now I'm in a house, not alone anymore, and have some other stuff to get done that I didn't have to worry about in the apartment.  Plus, I have the ability to shoot PBs here, and I've been doing that.  I did mark out a 10 meter line for a spot on one wall downstairs where I plan to hang my pellet trap, but haven't done that yet.
I'll be back to it though.  I liked the "official" targets and distances just so I could compare how much improvement is still available when comparing to the Olympic or the ISSU scores.  And I thought the additional trigger time helped with my scores in a Bullseye league too.

I'm looking forward to the off season casual matches. I have a 10m and 50ft setup in the basement and have started practicing.  Never done competitions so it's new for me.
