Oil/Water Separator with Drain valve
(1/1)
FatherFoos:
Im sure info on this type of filter is posted somewhere in here but I have been unable to find it. I am new to the forum and just getting into PCP airguns. I bought a Yong Heng and plan to fill my gun(s) directly at this points, maybe I ill get a tank in the future. I have been looking at different filters and came across this style. "30Mpa High Pressure Air Filter External Water Oil Separator Filtration for Air Compressor Air Pump" from TOAUTO Store: on Amazon (sorry - I am not allowed to post external links)
Are these any good? Do I need any other filters after this one? Should I just get the gold style instead? If I should go with the gold filter should I just get the molecular filter/desiccant insert of the triple style?
Any other suggestions or links to this topic would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well, I did some more digging and found this video on youtube today: "Low cost HPA compressor output analysed! Yong Heng GX CS2 shootout YHHRS ep 18" from Target Forge (sorry - I cannot post a link). According to his tests this filter does not work, at least for Yong Heng and oil free pumps. The molecular sieve however did work well. He also shows data on if the compressors can produce breathable air, the Gx2 he tested barely did but the YH failed, possibly attributed to the ISO46 oil. Worth a watch.

If you're interested in his methods of testing see "Yong Heng vs GX CS2 Actual Air Quality Test! Part 1 Yong Heng Hot Rod Shop YHHRS ep 015" (Target Forge yt channel). He has plenty of very informative videos with measurable data. Worth subscribing.

This filter will give the best water removal on the hig pressure side, I have a Tuxing compressor that runs this after a water oil unit they are sold as side by side units. after that I have a final filter with more sieve and some carbon, as a final scrub, no visible water or oil has made it to that filter.
You can see my 3 final filter in the background in the photo.
FatherFoos:
Thanks James. I purchased the same Tuxing sieve that you provided a link for earlier today. I plan on having a small cotton filter after that just to check if it gets dirty or feels damp. This will be my only filtration, hopefully it's enough to pull out the water before reaching my rifle.
