I just keep time with my phone and record it on the qc tag I never removed

I used to track my usage of my Shoebox 10 because they said it would need a rebuild at 100 hours.
I never had it that long, though.

I use one to keep track of oil changes.

 I timed the fill rates on my typical fills, so many fills = oil change.

   Thanks for the replies…the rov/air I bought has no oil…and only maintenance in manual is line filter…was curious as to keeping track on hours..anticipating rebuild…good luck

I'm not sure an hour meter is nessassary, but it does take care of keeping track of the maintenance timing for me.  Just one less thing I have to keep track of in my busy life.  That and keeping the maintenance log book in a zip-loc in/on the compressor.


Putting an hour meter in my Air Venturi Krypton might seem like an easy job, but it turned out to be quite a bit more than I thought it should.  For one I wanted to ONLY keep track of the motor RUN time, not the cooling system or the time it is plugged in.  This unfortunately required me to get into the junction box below the 'main controls' box and it was a PITA to get into with human hands.  Sure I could have completely disassembled the entire compressor, but it was bad enough I had to pull most of the control wires off the controls to cut the square hole in the cover plate for the meter.  The lower box, where I had to go to pickup the motor leads, houses the 2 huge capaciters and a bus that connects the incoming line voltage to the caps and the motor.  There is also wiring going up to the upper control box, but sadly there is no place to tap off in there that would result in metering the motor only.


Cutting the square hold in the .100" thick steel control pannel was not as difficult as WHERE to place it.  My first choice was to put the Hr. meter just above the pressure switch (mechanical) and the thermometer (battery powered, and came dead BTW)  I chose NOT to put unprotected line voltage outside the controls box, so I only had one option as to where to place it.  Right where it is in that pic, as there is a LOT going on in that box under that plate.


I think it came out pretty well, and I bet anyone looking at it, even closely would have a hard time figuring out if it was a "factory option" or not.


LOL, YES, I'm aware I probalby voided my Warrantee, Air Venturi will not care that I am a licensed electrical professional. :rolleyes:

How about a minute meter.
I have a GX CS2 to fill my PRod.
It takes about a minute to fill from 1600-2700psi.
I know a lube is required at 50/75 hours.
50 hours times 60 minutes is 3000 fills.
3000 fills X 24 shots…72,000 shots

At 78, I may not have enough time to shoot that many.

If you have to drive to shoot, then a vibration meter is useless. It will rack up an extra hour for each of my trips. I need to get one that can be triggered by the running light.

LOL, not so sure about a 'minuet meter' , BUT the hour meter I bought does keep track of 1/10 hour, or 6min.   I actually either hand pump my Prod in my basement range, or use the .68cu/in bottle if I am in the field.  Unfortunately hooking anything less than an empty 500cc's  up to the Krypton is kind of a waste, but GREAT for fillling tanks.  Since I do so little field or outdoor range work, I mostly hand pump.  Once I get my big bores finished and ready to go out in the field, I'll likely be filling a lot of large bottles.  I don't mind the hand pumping topping off my Prod, it's almost therapeutic.
