(1/1)
jagi318di:
Hello for info, weihrauch has installed a new model of piston seal on the hw40, here is the post of the French forum which talks about it, ;=)
I made a copy paste of the post, because I do not know how to copy the link of the forum
sorry for the translation, it's google, I don't speak English, but I think it may be interresting ;=))
Bjr, I acquired a hw40 less than a month ago, I dismantle the piston out of curiosity and I realize that the seal is not an O-ring but a double lip seal, does anyone have it? the reference of this new type of seal, at sws, by buying the hw40 I had ordered the piston and barrel seal, and the piston seal they provided me is the 2460 ent o-ring, if qq for info thank you and have a nice weekend

bon we à tous et bon tir
Good morning
for those interested, here is the reference of the quad ring which replaces the original o-ring

QUAD-RING® 1. X-RING AND QUAD-RING® SEALS/ APPLICATIONS / OPERATING TEMPERATURES The sealing principle of X-RING and Quadring® seals has strong similarities with that of O-ring sealing. X-RING and Quad-ring® seals are double-acting, self-sealing elements. The initial seal is made by diametral compression in a rectangular groove. The pressure prevailing in the system ensures a reliable positive seal.
after a test of 500 pellets, constant compression, fitting with silicone grease, seal groove and piston, (slightly)
I have not yet had the answer from Weihrauch and Schneider, as soon as I have it I will complete the post
good weekend to all and good shooting

When I first started making oring sealed piston caps a couple decades ago for my R9, HW95 & HW77 I used a standard "size 020 Viton round cross section orings" and they worked great for my application. Then I read about the "X rings" ("quad rings") and they also worked well. Problem with the quad rings for a HW95 was the rather tedious instaling a "quad seal" past all the HW95 receiver knockouts, dowel pin holes and cocking shoe slot without damaging the rather delicate "lobes" during installation. This wasn't an issue with the HW77 installation that didn't have a bunch of knockouts and probably not an issue with a HW40.
After trying the quad seal over a decade ago I reverted back to standard "round cross section orings for the home turned piston caps. Here are a few pics of the quad seals I used for a while...........
Here are a few pics of a 020 size standard oring installation..........

Ed,
I love your o-ring nosed piston. :-* :-*
Is your piston slightly longer than a normal piston sealed piston? Maybe 8-10mm longer?
