2400kt scope elevation

Depending on the application low rings doesnt always work for me….and ring height has never given me a problem……good luck OP…

RonsPlc:
I had the same issue.
I came across some adjustable scope rings made by West Hunter.
I now swear by these things, but I don't have any experience with them on a Springer so maybe others can speak to that application.

TennX is correct…using low rings will have almost no effect on being able to sight it in.  What is needed is to angle the scope downward toward the point of impact by elevating the rear of it.  You can accomplish that in several different ways:
1.       by shimming the rear ring
2.       using adjustable mounts
3.       using a “drooper” mount with a fixed 20MoA built in

If shimming, you can cut shim stock from something like a business card, soda can, plastic bottle, etc.  If your rings are 3.5in apart, shimming by 20 thousandths (~4 layers of soda can) will move the point of impact by a little over 5 inches at 25 yards.  A 20MoA drooper mount will do the same thing.

[Side note about shimming.  Some people get squeamish out of concern for putting stress on the scope tube.  In the case of a springer, I agree…you will typically need to apply judicious torque to the rings to keep the scope from walking due to the sharp 2-way recoil.  The presence of shims makes slipping even more likely, which encourages more torque to counteract it, and eventually you may end up with a deformed scope tube.  But for any other power plant—CO2 like your 2400KT, or a PCP—or a MSP/SSP—you can torque the rings a little beyond snug and call it done.  The scope will not move and the tube won’t be affected.]

Another thing you can do is elevate the end of the barrel.  For example, a crescent of soda can shim slipped into the barrel band on top of the CO2 tube, and another one slipped in under the barrel.

Bottom line, the name of the game is to somehow introduce a slight angle to the scope and/or the barrel.

Thank you everyone. I was able to shim the rear of the scope. I used 3 layers of coke can. So far it has worked perfectly. I am back in business. I'm usually running open sights so a little new to the scope world.

For starters ….I alway approach any task using the K.I.S.S PRINCIPLE….Keep It Simple Stupid …has served me well….good luck
