Super casual 50ft match proposal, almost anything goes.

I like the structured matches, but thought it might be fun to have an anything goes match... anything but a gun vice that is. My thoughts:
1) the 15m rifle target located here
http://tomgirling.co.uk/hobby/airgunning.php
shot at 50ft. We could even use the 20m target at the same distance if people want... it doesn't really matter to me.
2) any position you like including bench rest, prone, sitting, kneeling, monopod, bipod, etc...
3) any rifle or even pistol if you want
4) any scope or open sights, red dot, shooting from the hip, whatever.
5) 5 shots per bull with the two middle bulls for sighting in, best possible score 300/300. That can be reduced to 4 or even 3 shots per bull, depending on what people are interested in.
6) Nick the center dot for 10pts, obliterate it for a 10x.
7) no time limit.
The idea behind it is just to draw as many shooters at any skill level into the same match. Winning doesn't matter... ok, it's nice to come in first, but this match is just to enjoy yourself, get some more practice, and not sweat it too much.
Basically it's a match designed for shooting whatever you want and seeing how others do with whatever they want. Got a new rifle, want to try sitting, feel like seeing what you can do with open sights, want to see if you can shoot standing with the scope at only 3x, want to shoot a different pellet at each bull? Whatever... it don't matter. Plus, with many shooting at indoor ranges and on smaller pieces of property I figured 50ft might be a nice middle ground. And the targets are big, so even if a shooter misses the black, there's still a chance to pick up some points. 15m targets are 2.5", 20m looks to be about 3.75".
Bill, I'd be happy to volunteer my time to help with tallying the scores. With the economy in the tank I have time on my hands, and I have a sick sick love for spreadsheets. pm me if I can help (with anything, not just this match proposal)... I'm not looking to make more work for you.

Just went out and took this match idea for a test drive and I had a couple refinements.
1) 4 shots at all 6 bulls & take out your worst bull for total score. That would make 20 shots that count (5 bulls) for a total possible score of 200. Kinda like when the teacher would drop the worst test score for the final grade. 5 pellets per bull gets a little crowded too.
2) No bench rests. Rifle or pistol must be held by hand. Prone, sitting, kneeling, standing, elbow on the windowsill or deck railing, etc... I hope I'm explaining that well enough?
I think that's all I've come up with so far. Still think 50ft is pretty good. It's the distance I used to shoot as a kid and I miss it.
I'm totally open to other thoughts, but the main goal is to keep it as open to as many shooters as possible.
- Mark
(added in edit): Wait, #2 eliminates bipods and monopods. Ok, scratch #2.

skycomag, the only thing I've come up with so far is that the
front
of the rifle can be supported by any means available but the butt has to be completely supported by the shooter's shoulder. That would allow me to shoot this from my window sill position (which I'll probably only do in cold weather) and keep monopods and bipods in the game for those who want to use them.
Got any thoughts about it? I'm really just kinda winging it here. Thinking out loud, as it were.
I really like the shoot 6 bulls, but only score the best 5. Gives shooters a little wiggle room for a better score.

MARK:
i think that can everyone a chance to shoot no matter what the weather is and it opens more shooting ranges to all from back yard thru ranges.
any ammo restrictions?
with these type of open forum to shoot, everyone is equal regardless of equipment. the only thing that counts is your scores.
of course as other online matches this base soully on the honor system.
i think all target should be mark with shooting style, type of equipment i.e. rifle or pistol, ammo type, range locations, plus your name either real or your online name.
this should be a great way for newbies to start in shooting on a online forum with no pressure ]. just a great fun shoot.

Sounds good. Ok, so far:
1) 15 meter rifle target found here shot at 50ft:
http://tomgirling.co.uk/hobby/airgunning.php
2) 4 shots at each of the 6 major bulls, total the score of the best 5 bulls, for a possible total of 200 points. Center 2 bulls for sighting in or can be ignored, it don't matter.
3) open to all types of rifles and pistols, 0.177 through 0.22. Anything bigger might be a little rough on the target.
4) All positions prone, sitting, kneeling, standing, supporting the front of the gun with a monopod, bipod, folded pair of jeans on a windowsill, etc... is allowed but not required. In the case of rifles, butt must be in full contact with the shoulder.
5) No time limit
6) Any sights / scope allowed
7) Nick the center dot for 10pts, obliterate it for a 10x.
Basically, it's you, your gun of choice, position of choice, and yet another chance to throw lead downrange.
Target shooters, if that sounds like something you'ld participate in, speak up! It won't happen without support. So far Skycomag and I are in. I hope to shoot it sitting on a cooler with my elbow on my knee till it gets cold then moving to my windowsill supported by folded jeans position.

Like skycomag said, that's the idea.
I figure it's a good way for people to just relax and target shoot at their own comfort level. Or simply get a little practice with a new piece of equipment.

I'll play. Been having trouble getting to some of the longer distance matches (too many folks outside this time of year) but I'm lucky enough to have 50ft in my basement. Actually, unless you object, I'll actually shoot from a little more than 50ft. As long as I stand and shoot offhand, I won't have to move any furniture if I back up to 56-59 ft.

I was itching to shoot this today, so I did! Figured I'd take a pic of the target as an example. Not an official submission, just an illustration of what I'm thinking about.
I thought the top left target would end up being the lowest score because of the 4, but was surprised to find top right was the loser, so I dropped that score and totaled up the other 5.
Diana 34 Pro Compact
RWS 3-9x40 scope @ 6x
0.177 Crosman Premier HP
50ft, sitting on cooler, elbow on knee
76F, sun, light wind
Score 149 / 200 - 0x
It was fun.

Dang I can't wait to get home, this is the first one that I can actually get into due to distance and equipment. The shame is that I wont get home for another 16 days.

wms, last I saw the target posting thread wasn't up yet, but the rules have been posted to the Match Rules Gate. I figure a posting thread will be up before the 26th, but I don't really know for sure.
Carl, you'll still have three days to shoot after you get home.
...er, assuming I've done my math right.

Well, at least 2 days should be enough to get a taste. Having shot a few test targets, this is already my favorite match.
Ooh! No more test targets, next shoots will be for real... sweeeet.
