However, even though some folks swear by moderators (sound dampeners) on Springers, IMO .... the idea is somewhat ridiculous, and needlessly complicates their simplicity.

Much like Weihrauch stock changes, likely marketing driven :P.

Here we will agree to disagree.  I have shot my HW95 back to back with and without moderator.  There is a noticable reduction in noise to me with the moderator.  I imagine down range it would be even more noticable.  If you need to be neighbor friendly you do everything you can to fly under the radar. :D

If you just want to protect the threads, get a thread protector!
Otherwise look here:

Check what type to thread you have 1/2-unf is common but not standard....

It's a Weihrauch barrel 1/2-20. I don't want a muzzle brake, just a piece of blued steel that is maybe 3 or 4 inches long threaded on one end.  I wish I was a machinist.  I've yet to find a thread protector for a threaded length slightly over an inch.

Yogi:
What do you think a muzzle break is???

The purpose of a thread protector is to protect the very end of the muzzle.  3/4" does not matter.
