Actually my appetite for this platform has been triggered.

Strange enough, given the popularity of these airguns, I not really could find a good shot string.

Does anyone with a chrony has a good 5-10 shots shot string please ?

Preferably from the Vortex version.

And maybe with as special request, from both the JSB King and JSB Hades pellets.

If we make it a very special request... I also wonder if there would be a difference between the 130 and 135.

Can't do the Mod135 Vortex QE 25 right now because it is hibernating at my parents house. That lovely Turkish Walnut is getting its beauty rest Won't wake that sleeping giant until late spring.

However, I'm about to wake and feed some lead to my Mod130s 30cal cannon. I can post chrono and target results later today if anyone is interested.

I awakened my Mod130s for a little exercise (me) and feeding (lead for the rifle). It is every bit the bruiser it was the last time I shot it. Almost needed two hands to cock it today. I must be getting OLDER!

Normally I don't even bother trying to scope any of my Mod125-135 series Hatsans. I'm certain I don't have any scopes built well enough to function properly on these Magnum Springers. Just for giggles I tried a scope on this rifle about a month ago and, as I expected, it just didn't work. I "think" the recoils were just bouncing the scope internals around. Could not get groupings smaller than ~2.0 inches at 30' ! I removed the scope and went back to shooting with the open sights. The rifle was right back on target. Pretty certain the limiting factor in accuracy is ME (aging vision and some wobble) . This rifle cannon is more accurate than I am!

Here are the results from todays feeding:

Average Velocity 542.5 fps (44.75 grain pellet)
Average pellet energy 29.3 ft-lbs AT 28.5' (chrony is just in front of my target)
Velocity Spread 14 fps
Velocity Standard Deviation 4 fps

Spread and SD may not be up to PCP standards, but I think these are excellent numbers for a Magnum Springer.

Compared to shooting some of my 177s, this FEELS like I'm launching BRICKS at the target!

Penny size 10 shot group at 30'. I know, distance too short for most folks here. I live in a dense urban area and can only shoot "quietly" in my basement 30' range. Too many "SNOWFLAKES - SNOWFLAKES" (I'm addicted to that EDgun Leshiy youtube site!) and local ordinances make even quiet & "safe" plinking in my yard a capital offense.

I didn't really NEED a 30cal breakbarrel cannon, but a fellow GTA member (Thank You Ed ) put it up for sale last year in the classifieds and I couldn't resist. It is my only air rifle over 25 caliber and initially I thought I made a mistake getting a 30 cal springer. HOWEVER, the stupid ear-to-ear-grin it provides every time I shoot it confirms it was a good addition to my collection. Ouch, my face hurts from grinning too much again!

If anyone noticed I don't have the factory SAS bolt installed. On several of my synthetic stock Hatsans I've decided to replace the factory SAS bolt assembly with a DIY bolt. My substitute is an M7 x 50mm hex bolt and nut, along with a custom washer. The washer is made from a common 5/16" hex nut that has been rounded (hex removed), slightly tapered, and drilled out to slip-fit the 7mm bolt.  For the price of (1) replacement SAS bolt + shipping from Hatsan I purchased a bag of (100) M7 x 50mm bolts, (100) M7 hex nuts, (100) 5/16" nuts, and had enough change left over to buy a tin of cheap 177 pellets. This may not "look" pretty, but the price is right and it works for me.

Just be aware that 30 cal pellets are NOT CHEAP and the selection is very limited when compared to the lower calibers. Also that the cocking effort of this air rifle "FEELS" like it is really 50+ lbs! I'm in pretty good condition for my age, but this is NOT an all day plinking rifle! I "might" be able to shoot 50 pellets in one session, but I'd be done for the DAY after that.

I don't think you can get the Mod130s in coil-spring form. From the discussions on other threads here I believe Hatsan will only be selling new Mod135s with the Vortex air spring. I've been watching for sales of older Mod135s with a coil springs and they seem to be very rare. That means if you want one of these Mod130/Mod135 cannons powered by a coil spring you will probably need to buy the Vortex version and convert it to coil spring.

If my Mod130s Vortex air spring ever fails, I have the high pressure air hand pump and fittings to refill it.
If that happens I'd also experiment installing a steel coil spring from Vortek...

The retrofit will obviously need a spring guide. I have fabricated extra long and snug fitting guides for the Mod125

This guide makes the Mod125 coil spring shoot as smooth as a Vortex air spring.

Those custom guides will also fit the Mod135/Mod130 actions. Any additional spacers or top-hats needed to center/preload the coil spring should be easy to make.

For now, I'm happy with the Mod130s cannon as-is

Yes, I concur with the availability (or lack there of) of a metal spring .30. I have been looking for one on and off for a year or so. The change over to a spring from a ram is a bit more that I care to do at this time. I will keep watching...you never know...

 I have a UK Patriot in .25 (still a metal spring) that I take out once in a while...always makes me smile when I touch it off (not quite a brick launcher though). From what I have seen, my Patriot is about 100fps or so slower (in .25) than the 13X (in .25) that I have read about. Cocking effort would be fairly similar to a 130-135, not an all day shooter for sure.

Rudy, I think you will like a .25 hammer....with Predator Polymags they sure do a number on pests. They leave the tube under 700fps but still hit very hard...and loud! I haven't tried the Hades in my Patriot (she is slower than the 13x) but the Kings hit pests hard (and loud) also.

Think shot puting is more appropriate that launching bricks.  Bricks have to low a BC.

I have both a 135 and English made Kodiak/Patriot in .25 cal. Disclamier~ My Kodiak/Patriot is also professionally tuned. Ime, the Patriot does shoot slower than the 135 but how much slower depends on the pellet. Sometimes its barely a 30-50fps difference. Sometimes its about 100fps but never more than that. The cocking effort on the 135 is more but probably only because the barrel is shorter. My 135 is the QE version and interestingly, the Kodiak/Patriot is much quieter. My Kodiak/Patriot seems to be more pellet picky than the 135. I've had a hard time finding anything that shoots accurately in my Kodiak/Patriot but I have found some. I can't remember them right off hand but I believe they are RWS branded pellets and they fit loose in the breach. Tight fitting pellets in the Kodiak/Patriot seem to be less accurate as a trend.

Yes, I have read that the UK Patriot should be shooting much higher than mine.... she must be getting tired... and could use a re-blue so.... off to Mr. Slade it will go..

But before it goes... I will need a close range hammer,  most likely a 135, hopefully in spring form either in .25 as I have the pellets or in .30 for launching bigger lead..
