Would the members here enjoy shooting within their Marksmanship Class ?

I'm just wondering if more members would shoot if they competed within their Class instead of Open Matches ??

MASTER QUALIFICATION               90% - 100%

EXPERT QUALIFIACTION                85% - 89.99%

SHARPSHOOTER QUALIFICATION    80% - 84.99%

MARKSMAN QUALIFICATION           BELOW 79.99%

I'm open too. I'll have to admit that I don't really understand the classes but I'll read up. 
I like shooting well but never really cared how I placed, I just know it was more fun to see half a dozen (or more) folks post targets and commentary. 

I'd be happy to give up some matches if people were interested in different formats or targets.
I've been doing more 10m open/match sight rifle shooting and pistol siloeutte but don't want to rock the boat and suggest match changes unless it brings bigger following.

I'm not sure how the marksmanship classes would work either. Would we placed in a class on a target to target basis, or would it be some type of cumulative system? It doesn't really matter to me either way, I'm with Jeff, I just like to shoot with others. Of course, I do like coming in near the top of the pack, but that's not why I do it. :)

The only match I miss is the 25yd open sight any position. Now that my only open sight rifle is out of commission, I've found that I really miss sitting outside on my cooler, taking some shots, watching the birds, taking a few more shots, listening to the wind in the trees, etc... I don't know if it doable, but it would be very cool if that match could be shot in both scoped and open sight classes... or something along those lines?

Eh... I just wanna shoot holes in paper as much as possible. :D

(added in edit 8/29/10) Scratch that about shooting the open sight match with a scope. I'm in the process of replacing the spring in my open sight rifle.

The problem w class ranking is that you also have to even the hardware.
Examples: pistols with open sights NO optics, pistols w one hand vs 2 hand hold, rifles open sight or aperture vs scoped.

If people state what and how they shoot, you can usually pick who YOUR competitor is, and ignore the others.  That is what I did when I used to shoot on the old Straight Shooter's AP Challenge matches.
