My AP20 Pro just arrived a couple of days ago. Very impressive. The grip angle is quite alien to a 1911 shooter but I am getting used to it. My question is...
In a couple of listings of the AP20 standard model (with the plastic grip etc.) I have seen " dry fire capable." I find nothing on the Pro as far as as a live fire/dry fire selector as I have on my Anschutz 8001 rifle. The manual supplied with the pistol is for the basic model. I guess there is not much difference mechanically. I see nothing in the manual re. dry fire. If I back off the cylinder so that the system is not pressurized, is it safe to dry fire the pistol? I did fabricate a U shaped shim to insert between the cylinder and the pistol to keep it from wobbling.
Any advice appreciated.
TIA,
Ken

As I often do in forums I guess I get to answer my own question
at least in part.
I downloaded an electronic copy of the manual so I could do a word search. Seems I should have looked in the index for "training trigger." The method described is to open the cocking lever fully and move it forward 10 degrees. This allows the trigger to "fire" but no air is passed. I guess this also trains the shooter to ignore distractions like the big cocking handle sticking up in front of one's face. And if the handle is moved just a little too far it teaches one to ignore an unexpected blast of air etc. I think I like my proposed method better. Provided it is safe on the mechanism.

leaving the cocking lever open will work - should just hear a "click" when dry firing.
Clayton . . . I believe I've been there . . . Not far from Wake Forest, if I remember correctly!

Thanks Duckster,
The factory method is rather annoying. I would rather put the cocking handle down and out of sight. I will have to see if Walther/Hammerli has any sort of customer support. Perhaps they can provide a definitive answer. If they only speak German, I have a couple of IT related contacts in Germany. Perhaps I an ask one of them to make the call.
Clayton is about 20 miles South East from Raleigh so not too far from Wake Forrest.
