Here is an excellent link for identifying pipe threads....

The common ones we see are 1/8"-27 NPT, 1/8"-28 BSPP, and M10 x 1 mm Metric Pipe threads.... Most are available in straight (requires a sealing washer or O-ring) or tapered (seals on the threads, using Teflon tape)....
