Almost makes me wish I had purchased the 16x, instead of the 20x...  (chuckle)

I was just kidding.   Although, I still have not been able to mount the scope because the excellent rings they sent with it (for free) are picatinny, not dovetail.

After testing this one, not mounted on a rifle, I think I may need to find some way to adjust/modify the cheek weld on the Freedoms.   The eyebox on most higher powered (low-mid range $) is very tiny.

You are going to need 2 sunshades on that 20x.  Aside from that they are great scopes, I have 3 of them so far.

It came with one sunshade and since I shoot from 3 yards inside - out of windows (out to 10-55 yards), I doubt I will really need that one.

Never used one on the Athlon Argos BTR 8-34x56 FFP either.  (grin)   It just won't focus closer than 15 yards... (sigh)

The sunlight coming in the kitchen windows in the afternoon will white mine out trying to shoot 10 yards indoors.  My outdoor range faces west and white out is an issue every afternoon sometimes even with the sunshades.

Thanks for the C_DOES Youtube review!  I didn't know about his reviews.

It looked to me that the 12x had more vibrant colors than the 16x that he liked.  It could have been due to a different time of day/lighting.

I had always wanted the 20x but from his video I realized I'd like more field of view for easier target acquisition.

A few years ago I bought a 16x or 20x and returned it because it wouldn't focus as sharp at 350 yards as the 3.5-14 Nikon it was to replace. I returned it no problem for a full refund no questions asked. Great people there. I'm pretty sure it's well documented now the 10x and 12x have the best glass in the non-HD line up.

Ah... I understand, and I also shoot towards the West.   However, I don't think the sunshade will help me as the light is not coming in at an angle a sunshade will help.

Mostly it is just the inability of my eyes to focus when there is bright back lighting and the tree rats are on the shaded side of the tree.

Unless you are willing to spend up $$$$, there will always be a trade off for more magnification.

12x or 16x would probably have been good enough, but I am trying to get to where I am not just aiming at the tree rat's head... nor his eye... but at his pupil or the flea inside his ear!  (chuckle)

Totally reasonable.   It just depends on what you really need/want.   I may eventually decide that 10x or 12x are enough... but not yet!  LOL!

With my eyes, I find it is hard for me to see clearly with 6x magnification at 16 yards, it could just be my cheap scopes. Hope my SWFA (10x42) will be much better.

By that reckoning, I will need a 36x scope to shoot at 100 yards.

But with high magnification, the field of view will be narrow and could be difficult to find the target in a hunting situation. Maybe a variable FFP will help, I guess

Since I always shoot from inside and my field of view is already limited, I don't have too much trouble finding my target even at 34x mag.

Also, I always shoot from a rest.   Improvised as it is (cardboard box or step ladder), but still always a rest.
