sent my hawke varmint in for repair today

got a hawke 6-24x44 side focus half mil-dot varmint almost 5 years ago and sent it in today for repair . very nice folks on the phone and very fast on sending a e-mail with my RMA# . told me if they can't fix it that they'll replace it with the new version vantage . the threads on the rear eye piece bell got stripped over the years . they kept loosening up and i'd snug the up with my fingers but no gorilla snugging . said a week or two and i should get it back . cost me $11.80 including $200 insurance at the post office to ship it to them .

when it comes back gonna put it on my .25 gauntlet . it won't focus as close as the bushnell AR i have on it now but i like the varmints reticle better for small targets/critters and the extra power won't hurt my feelings either .

Dude told me on the phone that all hawke scopes can be used on low power Springer's but that the airmax can be used on any air gun . The umarex gauntlet is a PCP with zero recoil .

I currently have a Bushnell AR 4.5-18  Creedmore on it

That Hawke scope is a better fit for the gauntlet IMO. A lot of those rifle scopes with the mil-dots are more for PB'ers. That's great they were easy to work with and its only costing 11 dollars and change to do the switch up.

the half mildot on the Hawke is much finer than the Bushnell mildot , but i really do like the Bushnell for the price . gonna set the Bushnell aside when the Hawke comes back and save it for a Benjamin bulldog that i am strongly considering getting later next summer or early next fall for deer . the larger reticle won't matter for big critters but the finer reticle on the hawke will be better for small critters . i can still return the bushnell but i like the clarity , luv the side focus , power is in the range i like (4.5-18) and the bling of the little knob thingy for adjusting power is actually a usable feature that i'm liking more as i use it . it's much shorter than the Hawke but that's not a big deal to me , but it is cleaner looking . the ONLY detriments i experienced on the Hawke is the the fine reticle can get lost in dark bushy areas sometimes low light at dusk and dawn and the side focus knob is still kinda stiff even after a few years . a heavier/thicker reticle IMO is easier to see in those low light/shady conditions .

I was considering a bushnell engage or a hawke compact one but I seen a good sale on pellets this wkend and went with the cheaper scope and got 10 tins of pellets. I would like to start upgrading my glass sometime but all the scopes I have work pretty good. I'd like to try out one of those compact hawkes and several others but its hard to pony up that much when I can make use with what I have. How far down does that bushnell focus? I think you have a great idea of how to use it. It will be perfect for bigger game hunting.

I have a 1" tube 4-12x40 side focus Bushy Engage (10 yards to infinity) I plan to sell.

It is a nice scope but I find it too big for my carbines, so I plan to replace it with a 3-9x32 Clearidge.

It is in pristine condition--I am extremely meticulous.

No scratches, dings, ring marks whatsoever--box is still intact and brand new looking as well.

UPS just delivered a brand new hawke vantage 6-24x44 half mil-dot side focus scope to replace the varmint i had !
it's only been 12 days since i sent the varmint in and i'm VERY impressed !
already put it on my .25 gauntlet
