I will have to get one or two of those with the reducers for the my 40 yards and in targets.
I don't get a chance to shoot as much as I'd like.
Obviously hitting the longer shots in the wind takes more practice. But I think having closer to 20 fpe on tap couldn't hurt.

Bringing a knife to a gun fight is not competition ... its an elimination !!
Until near equally experienced & equipped ... you learn while they make the higher scores !
It really is just that simple.

I have it set up with the bstaley mod with a .109 xfer port and a .042 hammer spring. It's shooting 25 shots of jsb 8.44's with a 3% es. I'm tempted to up the fps, but it took a lot of chrono time to get here. I realize it's a rich man's game. I'm 71 and on social security. Shooting in a match is kind of a bucket list thing. It's my first and probably only pcp.

Thanks for the reply. I contacted the Phoenix Airgun Club and was told they don't have pistol matches due to lack of interest. I could shoot rifle with the 1720t as a carbine. My plan is to just show up and shoot whatever I can.

Thats a great start.
While a pistol for likely 1/3 of targets will be out beyond 35 yards, you will get a good taste of FT seeing how the games played and tools used in doing it.
1st rule of FT .... HAVE FUN !!

After much experimenting I decided to shoot it as a carbine. I was never much of a pistol shot anyways (left handed and right eye dominant). I thought the pistol matches would have a level playing field as the 1720t is the most used pistol and I wouldn't be up against Steyr rifles and Sightron scopes. Oh well. I know some say it's all about having fun, but it is a competition.

Although I have several rifles set up for HFT, I too have a 1720T all ready to go at 12fpe.
Regardless of what rifle I shoot, I shoot around 50%.
So what?
I am thinking of shooting the 1720T as a carbine too.
Can’t do any worse.
I might have to remove the LDC, though.
Like Scott said, “Have fun”.
You are only competing against yourself..
