TX200 accuracy issues.

Chronied the 3 best shooting pellets(and I use best shooting very very loosely). JSB 14.3 averaged 620, ES 13, Sd 3.9; Accu Pell 14.3 Av 665, ES 20, Sd almost 10; FTT 665, ES 15, Sd 6.

This might sound random, but I suggest you try a lighter pellet, something 11-12 grains. I'm working on the assumption that TX200 barrels do not have a breech constriction. And Google says a TX200 barrel is 395mm long, about 15.5". That's borderline too long for a uniform bore when pellets in the mid 600's. Pellet is potentially started to drag in the last inch or so of the barrel, throwing fliers.

My Crosman .22 shoots that speed, and I had to shorten the barrel to 14.5" to get it to shoot right with 14.3 grain pellets. I'd try using a lighter pellet. Or try replacing internals to boost velocity a bit, so the 14 grain pellets are leaving the barrel in time to avoid drag.

...no matter what I did, or pellets I tried it would not group. I finally found success, I broke down and replaced the barrel with a .177, now it groups wonderfully.

In 177, the lighter pellets will be long gone by the time the powerstroke is done, hence no fliers.

One other redneck thought , could you drill out the baffles a little bigger and maybe avoid a barrel change out.  I’m not sure how secure they are in the shroud, the bit could grab and rip them loose.

It is old, yeah. But the beauty of discussion forums (as opposed to social media) is that anyone today, or tomorrow, with accuracy issues with their TX200, can still reap benefits off this old discussion. Heck, I don't even have a TX, and likely never will, but I still read the replies with interest!

^With that in mind, I need to post a correction.

The barrel length on a TX200 without the shroud appears to be 13.5".

But I rechecked my Crosman Venom .22 which chrono's at 650's with 14.3 grain pellets. I shortened the barrel to 12.5" to eliminate the fliers. So I still stand by the theory that in .22, a TX200 that shoots on the slow end of the range might be in the danger zone when using 14 grain pellets!
