squirrelhunter:
Guys my Rottie has gotten sprayed twice in the last 3 weeks. The smell is rank, and the bugger is living behind either mine or my neighbors sheds. SO, How do I got about getting him/her to come out and show themself so I can put a Crow Mag into his ear? what bait works good? How can I tell where he is living? How can I tell when he is eating the bait without sitting by the window for hours? Do they run when the lights or flash light comes on? Any info will help

longislandhunter:
What you need is the infamous  "ding donger"   ;D

It a wireless motion sensor alarm system sold by "harbor freight"  that will make it real easy for you to know exactly when the stinker is at your bait pile.  Quite a few of us on GTA have bought this product and it works great...... here's the link.....

As for what bait to use..... I'll leave that up to someone else to answer because I've never hunted skunks and don't have the slightest idea what bait will work best.....

Harry is our resident skunk expert.... I'm sure he'll chime in soon and tell you what bait to use and how to avoid getting that stink all over you after you shoot the smelly little bugger....

Yep, it's that easy.  Just like Jeff said:

1. Ding Donger
2. RWS 350

3. Dead Skunk !!!!!  hehe

Hey Squirrelhunter, make sure Rottie is up to date on his rabies shots. If his encounters with Mr. LePew are getting him sprayed he's getting pretty close. Here's what I can pass along, you might want to consider trapping that skunk instead of shooting it. Just about everybody who's shot one has regretted it.(PHEW!) For days!!. Plus you got to then get close enough to pick it up to dispose of in your prefered method. But if you're SURE you want to shoot the stinker it helps to know they are generally nocturnal. Bait is easy. They are omnivorous. Use anything  edible and they will find it.A perfect shot is no guarantee that they won't let go with that sick yellow putrid perfume though. If you have patterned the skunk try to get some lights on your ambush area. They don't spook very easily so plan on getting close. Try a just at darkthirty set up with a comfortable steady shooting stick or other improvised rest from a blind for an exciting backyard hunt. With some persistence you should get your chance. But don't say I didn't warn you if you stink up the whole neighborhood for a week.

I don't think you'll have trouble shooting it, but you WILL have problems after it dies.  Most of the time they release their contents so to speak.

1) Get the Ding Donger
2) Go to Lowes and get a work light.  They are like $15 and are bright as the Sun!
3) Set the work light up pointing at the bait pile.  Use an extension cord to get a good angle to illuminate the area.  Most critters aren't scared of lights that are on all the time.
4) Make sure you are ready to go get him after you shoot him.  Bags, gloves, etc.  It is going to be horrible!

(A Skunk trap is a far better solution)
