You know you got the FT bug bad when you feel the need for some Top of the line glass !
It's just nuts when you spend over what most AG'er would spend on a rifle !
Obsession is expensive no matter what ones hobbies are without a doubt ...

For those who maybe less in the know of what many top FT shooters use in optics, it is for many the BIG SIII Sightron 10-50x60

In this models breakdown 10-50x60 FTIRMOA

What that says is 10 to 50 power with a 60mm objective ... Yes one BIG hunk of glass to be sure able to count the hairs on a flys butt at 30 yards

The "FT" is a field target specific application being Factory Parallax corrected to focus VERY PRECISELY from 9 yards to 55 yards using the side focus wheel stop to stop. * While scope will view beyond, the SF parallax adjustable function stops at 55.

The "IR" is ILLUMINATED RETICLE... or in this scopes case JUST THE CENTER DOT lights up.

The "MOA" is MINUET OF ANGLE reticle scaling. at 48x each line is 1/2 MOA, 24X each line is 1 moa, at 12X each line is 2 moa etc ...

Anywho ... one of these beast Sightrons are In-Da-House and headed onto the RAW TM-1000 for some Open Class FT duty.

This years mad money saved up is now spent ... OUCH

I have spent two years shooting field target.
I have a TX that I tune and practice with. From what I have learned so far ( and I am definitely a green horn) range finding is key to high score. So no mater how good your gun is and how much you practice. Without good glass you are hurting your score. Great glass like this is a must if you want to compete.

I hope more manufactures come out with FT scopes in the future. Maybe the price will drop and my savings go up and they will hit in the middle.

Those Sightron SIII scopes are very nice. You should be very happy with it, and it should be an excellent match for your RAW TM-1000. I recently bought one, a SIIISS 10-50x60 LRTD. I don't shoot FT with it as it is on a rimfire.

I've been drooling over those Sightrons at Trenier for a few months now. I can't get over how crazy precise the sidewheel is on them for focusing. If I ever decide to give FT instead of HFT a try, I'm going to have to figure out how to convince the wifey to agree to that purchase

Few days now screwing around ... dial having 12X marked so it's HFT legal ... Chairgun having MOA dope scaling when printing a range card ... scope is doable in either FT or HFT & part of the why in purchasing it.
It can excel in either class discipline.

But daammnn is it one physically large scope !!

Went about getting it rigged last night.

Yup 9 yards to 55 easy peezy with also @ 1/4" of scaling rotation left before the stop.
Likely 60ish tho did not see exactly where it does stop.
Mounted the Sightron to the TM-1000 using the fully adjustable Sports Match mounts. Little up on rear mount with a slight side shift and POI landed right about 25-28 yards without touching the scope turrets ... Perfect !!

Mounted up one of Erics Nautilus side wheels having an effective 7 1/2" diameter.
Ran out the measuring tape and started marking focus ranges at 9 on out while taking shots on a horizontal line marking the Fitted oversize elevation turret.
Did this out to 55 yards in a couple hours ... DONE !!
* 9 to 55 yards ALL within 1 rotation of turret too !

Nice glass ... First proof of " Was it worth it" this Sunday at our July Clubs FT match.

Ok,
Been a spell using the scope having Fun time and a few FT matches in really seeing ( literally

) how this scope performs in real world use.

Actual ranging ended up being 9 1/2 yards to @ 56 yards once set up and precise distances were graphed onto the SF wheel.

Used at 30X which was found to be a very good average for the distances of FT this Big Sightron inside of 40 yards will range to dang near the closest foot !! and out to 55 yards within a yard or so.
* Incredible ranging capability is about all you can say ... snap focus in/out a couple times and you have it.
( Of course you need to scale side wheel to known distances 10-55 prior )

Glass clarity is super crisp at all magnification. Reticle as viewed fine lined so target getting obscured or cluttered is minimal. The floated center dot ( Not connecting to windage / elevation lines ) makes for very precise POA & target acquisition.

Anywho ... just over overdue follow up on the Sightron FT SIII 10-50x60

At the last FT shoot in August I met fellow GTA member Rdsail and shot his AA S400 that has a Sightron on it after the match. I can say it is the nicest scope I have ever looked through and was astonished at the side wheel focus and its accuracy.

Well, it is one nice scope.
But...
Last year Scott cleared the course (48/48) at the Diablo FT course.
HFT with his Marauder and a Hawke Eclipse.

In Scott's case, he would do well with a peep sighted Bluestreak if........someone pumps it up for him.

Good equipment is nice, but like motorcycle racing, its more the rider than the bike they are racing

Yes sir...it is kinda big , but doesn't look any worse than my Hawke 8-32X56 on my other Cricket. I'll have to get pics of them side by side tomorrow.

The Falcon T-50 I had was a monster though!
Didn't hardly have time to shoot it after the sight in.
Dark thirty comes early now ;-)

The clarity of glass is intoxicating made even more so by outstanding range finding 24x on up. ( shoot mine at 30X mostly )
