953 at 50 yards

You're very welcome, Dan. Once I get the peep added to our 953, I'll be doing more distance work with it while the summer lasts - gone pretty quick, up here.

K.O., yes, it is very interesting what can be done out there at a distance with low velocity. When I started this 50 yard project, I had the notion that I would need at least moderate velocity, 800 fps or more, to get serious at 50 yards. Well, scratch that notion. Our pump ups, light springers like the HW30s and even this 953 did a nice job at 50. None of these guns will replace our TX for printing tiny groups, but the lesson here is that 50 yard shooting is possible with a much wider array of AGs than some folks might think. Been a very pleasant surprise for me.

Part of my motivation for shooting these guns at 50 yards was to answer the question of whether air guns can compete with our rimfire rifles at 50 yards. The answer is, yes, though conditions are a bit more critical for the AGs. Still, if for some reason we could no longer shoot powder burners, I could be happy just shooting AGs (sure sign of an AG addict. ).
