CFX 2008 - 2014 , time for a rebuild it looks like.

Picked up a .177 caliber CFX in 2008. Ordered with the gas ram but PyramidAir called me to tell me that they were out of stock and did I want to wait or did I want to take the spring version. As time in the U.S. was running out I opted for the spring version and ordered a GRT-III trigger from Charlie da Tuna at the same time. Over the past six years that rifle has spit out thousands of pellets, from around 10 meters out to 50 meters and beyond. At an early point the plastic lever catch on the muzzle got removed and replaced with an aluminum sight base/lever catch and a Mendoza peep sight got put on the back of the receiver. Recently the Field Target game has started heating up around the country and so I put a scope back on it but didn't have time to do much before the match. Of course, right before the second round the rifle refused to cock and I had to finish up the match with a child sized Haenel Super 303. Today I finally got a chance to break it down and my initial diagnosis was correct - busted spring.
I'll put up pics later, perhaps, but in the meantime I'm digging for info. I've found Jim Maccari's sight and he's got a Gamo kit that many recommend. (
http://www.airrifleheadquarters.com/catalog/item/251488/7718385.htm
) But I also found someone suggesting that one put together their own kit using the Tarantula spring (
http://www.airrifleheadquarters.com/catalog/item/251488/43410.htm
) and Tesla seal (
http://www.airrifleheadquarters.com/catalog/item/251485/2325552.htm
) .
Now the specs on the two springs are different. The Tarantula is .513 ID, 32 coils of .128 wire and the E3650 is .515" ID, 35 coils of .120" wire - which is roughly what the original Gamo spring is. What would one gain (or lose) by going with the thicker wire with fewer coils? Also the Gamo spring has a .525" ID on the flattened coil and about .532" ID on the broken coil end.
Putting together an order and getting it delivered here is an exercise in patience and hoping/praying that the contents of the package make it past customs agents who know not the difference between air guns/parts and firearms/parts (the former OK, the latter verboten). So I want to make sure I get it all together the first time around.
The rear spring guide is about .490" diameter. The tophat is about .495" diameter on the shank. The "brim" of the hat is similarly undersized when compared to the ID of the piston.
Any suggestions as to where one might find appropriate parts to mate up with the new spring and seal?

I'm a peaceful man and prefer the pursuit of peaceful sports. Those involving teams and balls of any sort tend to be deleterious to one's body and promote violence by both spectators and participants. The shooting sports, however, tend to promote self control and are peaceably participated in by those who know that their greatest challenge is their need to continually hone their own abilities.

Yesterday I placed an order with ARH (Jim Maccari) for his Gamo kit:
http://www.airrifleheadquarters.com/catalog/item/251488/7718385.htm
Although the site states it can take a week to put together, within an hour or two of the order I received email notification that "the kit is in the mail". Now to wait for it to wend its way over the Caribbean, down the Andes, through customs and to my sweaty palms. In the meantime I'm looking into who locally can machine up a custom tophat and rear spring guide that my fevered brain has been working on. I'm looking forward to getting her back together and see how she shoots with the improvements.
