Benjamin 310
« on: September 26, 2013, 10:03:42 PM »
Hello all.  I reassembled my Benjamin 310 this afternoon and it shoots like WOOOOOW!  Tim and Sue Smith of Smith Airgun Repair (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?board=165.0) helped me with this project and did a fine job.  Now, the next step is to figure out when it was made.  Some time ago, and I think it was on this Forum, I saw a list of rifles; and it was stated that one could determine the age of the Benjamin by the serial number.  Please, if you have this information, could you post it here or send it to me in a Personal Message.

This old girl will going to West Virginia next month to live with my son and his boys.  That way it can bring them enjoyment the way it did for me.

That's nice, I'm sure your son and his boys will enjoy that old Benjamin for a long time. Just google benjamin air rifle date of manufacture. I tried to post a link but it didn't work.

Thanks Bryan.  Actually I did find some information on that site in the Crosman University section at the bottom of the home page.  The best information I could find is that my rifle carries a serial number that puts it in the period before 1957.  What I remember is that Dad gave it to me before I started driving; and I remember riding around on my bicycle with the rifle in hand.   crosman.com

The boys (grandsons) are 4 years and 1 year (both in June) so they will have to wait a while before they start shooting this old girl.

It's really cool to still have that rifle and pass it down to your grandchildren. I had some air rifles but didn't own a Benjamin or Sheridan rifle while growing up. A good friend of mine had a Benjamin 342 and I was always amazed that it could blast right through a 1/2" sheet of plywood. I don't know what happened to his gun? I'll have to ask him about it.

Hey John.  Yes the 310 is a smooth bore BB.  This one shoots between 715 and 720 feet per second.  8)  It will be going to live a little south of where you are - Charleston.  West Virginia has some great squirrel hunting and deer are everywhere (even in my son's yard.)  Good hunting!
