Great BB Gun Shoot off

Well, not really great, and hardly a shoot off, but Crosman Pumpmaster with Crosman 4x15 scope, and Daisy Powerline 35 with Tasco 4x15 scope at 10 yards. The circled shot represents the first shot for x number of pumps, the xC or xD represents x many pumps, C for Crosman, D for Dasiy. Oh. Daisy zinc coated BB's
The very last circle was actually my Dasiy 22SG shooting Crosman 14.3g pointed hunting pellets - nearly pulled off a tack grouping with that 5 round group!
This piece of paper is to remind me "shame on me". I shoot my 1377 w/shoulder stock and 4x15 scope a ton in the basement at 10 yards, but I often forget to keep it oiled.

What do you think about the Daisy Model 35? I ask because Tom Gaylord/B.B. Pelletier did a writeup on it in his blog (in 2 parts). Everything sounded fine till he tested for accuracy. The gun was so bad that I think it was a defective unit. Accuracy was terrible with his. I even sent him a message asking about the possibility the gun may have been a one off clunker. He said he pretty much has to test them as he gets them.
Reviews on Amazon.com and Pyramidair.com are pretty good.
Just wondering as the price on these is very reasonable
, and I wouldn't mind having a smooth bore BB/pellet plinker.
Which targets of the above is shot with the Daisy?
Thanks, Jon

The above was shot with BB's (never good for paper punching), I shot this group this morning for you birdmove @ 10 yards using Crosman Pointed Hunting Pellets.
I am hardly the best shot in the world, and a better scope may help. I also ran 10 pellets and 1 BB across the chrony for you.
Best,

Thanks, Tim. Looks like your Daisy Model 35 shoots just fine.I can get one delivered to me in Hawaii for $34.97 from Amazon.com. Shipping to Hawaii can be brutal!!
You should see the groups Tom Gaylord got. His gun WAS defective. Some BBs and pellets too were totally off the target paper! And he is quite a good shooter-certainly better than I am. And with an inexpensive smooth bore rifle I wouldn't have to worry about hurting the rifling by shooting BBs. And those velocities are looking pretty good too.
Thanks, again.

My sons new MFG 760 cant shoot under 3" at 10 meters (scoped) with Crosman BB's while my daughters daisy #6 shoots about 1.5" with irons.I am jealous.I'l have to try Daisy BB's.The 760 shoot very good with a variety of pellets but about every 3rd group i get a wild one.

The daisy 35 is a fun gun to handle. has a good feel to it. I bought mine to shoot bb,s but most of other bb-shooters out shoot it. Being a smooth bore I use a rifle barreled guns to shoot pellets. It.s well build but not supper accurate with bb,s. my grizzly redryder an real old smooth bore dasiy 880 will out shoot it. That said I still enjoy it has a fun factor to it.

No offense to Crosman but I have heard from a number of sources that the Daisy BBs are way better.

Daisy bb's are way better. Crosman means pellet guns to me and Daisy is the bb kings. And daisy makes the most accurate bb gun in the world too.

Two things. First, I took a chance and ordered a Daisy Model 35 rifle. I hope that mine will shoot as good as Tim's above. If it does, I'll be a happy camper. If it shoots like the Tom Gaylord (also known as B.B. Pelletier) reviews here:
https://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2012/01/daisy-powerline-model-35-multi-pump-air-rifle-part-3/
......I will send it back to Amazon.com as defective. I am going under the premise that his was defective. He is a good and very experienced shooter, and that is the worst shooting gun I know of that he has tested. But the reviews from owners on both Pyramidair.com, and Amazon are quite good for the most part. I just wanted a decent shooting smooth bore BB rifle, as I don't want to risk damaging my Remington Airmaster 77 by shooting any BBs in it. That gun shows fantastic groups if I can get my act together for 3-5 consecutive shots (or more). BBs are cheap, easy to find in stores (it is impossible to find other than Crosman or Daisy pellets on this island), more eco friendly, and fun to shoot. I just use a cardboard box stuffed with something as a trap.
Second, I'm wondering what those targets are in the Great BB Shoot off?
In a few weeks after I get the new shooter and try it out I'll report back.

And I have bought air rifles with that cheapo 4x15 scope on them. The images were always very dark and glitch-filled. Even going to a decent 4x30mm makes a big difference to me.
And last night I took out my stock Crosman 1377 for some target shooting. It was getting dusk. I could not see worth a darn with my 59 year old eyes. I couldn't focus on the front sight to save my neck. I had to give up in disgust. I wear "progressive" glasses, and I never know what will work best..shooting with or without those glasses. Last night nothing helped. But I have shot the 1377 with some great groups. I have two dot sights that I recently got and am thinking about what to put them on. One is a BSA 30mm dot, the other is an NcStar 1x25 reflex type. I also have a fine shooting Crosman 357 6: barreled CO2 pistol. I may put one dot sight on that. The other may go on the Daisy Model 35 that I have coming.
When your eyesight goes to *(&^ it really makes it tough. On some scopes I can't even adjust the rear lens for a clear crosshair picture, then there is still the matter of adjusting the front for a clear target. A savvy Optometrist makes a world of difference. At one point years ago I gave up shooting. I was going to an eye Doctor (MD) and he kept telling me I had 20/20 vision. I knew I wasn't right because I could not focus on the front sight. Finally an older Optometrist (since passed away) that figured out that I had astigmatism (one eye worse that the other). He took forever to do his tests, but he really nailed my prescription back then. Not only did I get back into shooting, I started competing in 100 meter NRA Hunter Pistol and IHMSA 200 meter mettallic silhouette handgun matches and won lots of the 100 meter matches especially at the Tacoma Sportsman Club. I even took up bowling pin matches for a while and won my class one night.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

birdmove I posted this awhile back you might want to check him out. I'll see if he will set up a table for the Fresno show in march.

you might give Richard a call, he lives just up the hill from me. great outdoorsman. he has the Patent on these. when I get my next eye exam I will get a pair of his glasses. this is what I have discovered while shooting with bifocals the cross hairs are in focus and the target is blurry. in a previous life monitoring computer systems
I had/have prescription glasses for viewing the screen. so I got the bright Idea to try them while shooting. well the cross hairs and the target are in focus. one thing Rich told me is you could go to the drugstore and check out the cheap reading glasses. hold your thumb out at arms length and see what power the lens is to bring your thumb into focus. the other thing shooting with bifocals is keeping your head at the right height to see in the scope. I hope this will help you and others that need glasses and love shooting.

Well, Amazon shipped my Daisy Model 35 today. Should be at the Keaau Post Office on Saturday. I may not be able to try it out for a week and a half after it arrives, as we have guests staying with us, and they have a little kid. The Mom wouldn't appreciate me breaking out an air gun and shooting it.
After I get a chance to try it out I'll for sure write about it here. I am crossing my fingers that it will shoot as well as the one in this thread!

Picked up the Model 35 Tuesday. Didn't get a chance to shoot it till this afternoon. I set up to shoot at 10 yards off a picnic table with a small bench rest. Open sights. Grabbed some different pellets. RWS Diablo Basic wadcutters (I just happened to have ), Crosman Premier wadcutters and hollow points, and some Gamo Match.
The gun is a good looker and does handle well. I tried shooting using 3 and 5 pumps. This rifle is very quiet compared to my others. This is a good thing as I shoot on my property. The open sights are pretty good, but my 59 year old eyesight isn't. Lighting was difficult. Bright sunlight kept washing out my sights. The trigger is pretty decent, especially compared to my Crosman 1077. It takes a pretty stout pull to start the trigger moving, but once it starts it has a softer lettoff which doesn't hurt attempts at accuracy. It pumps easy. Loading the pellet is a little difficult. I had read that, if you aren't careful you can get a pellet stuck in the BB feed hole at the rear of the bolt. So I would cock then bolt, then ease the bolt handle forward a tiny bit which pushes a little ramrod just forward enough to prevent having to worry about getting a pellet stuck in the BB feed hole as mentioned. Then, if you hold the rifle very flat, you can kind of roll the pellet into the chamber. The RWS pellets were a bit of tight fit into the chamber.
I shot this rifle maybe 60 times, all with pellets. I'll try BBs another day. I did get some nice groups, also got some fliers. The Model 35 did not like the RWS Diablo Basics. These are a relatively cheap RWS pellet. Many of my guns like the RWS Hobbys, but I didn't try them today. The good news is that each of the other pellets gave me at least one good group of about 1/4". That is center to center. These were mostly just three shot groups to see what pellets showed promise. And some of these flyers certainly may have been my eyesight. I am going to scope this air gun for more testing. So far, it looks like a keeper. Even my worst groups were WAY better than Tom Gaylord's gun shot in his writeup (I believe I typed the web address for that test above). His Model 35 was just plain not well.
I don't have a traditional rifle scope available right now, but do have a brand new BSA red dot 30mm scope I could try. Or, I'll take a scope off another gun to try.
This is a very pleasant and fun rifle to shoot, looks really nice. It is all plastic, so I am being careful how I hold it when pumping.
More to come after scoping, and when I try shooting BBs.
I should add that I can't do any photos. Our house guests borrowed my cheapo digital camera and went to the Kona side of the Big Island of Hawaii for a few days. Maybe when they return, if I can figure out how to post photos here, maybe I'll try it.
For a $35 multi pump air gun, this one seems promising. Wanted to add that, at 10 yards, the gun was easily on the target. It shot maybe an inch to the left and maybe an inch high. Since I use the 6:00 hold, the elevation was all right. I did not adjust the sights, as they are close enough for now.
