Browning Leverage .22 nitro

These are nice guns that seem to stay under the radar. I just missed the AirGunsDaily.com daily offer on this today. (I believe in .177 caliber).  Start with the Crosman pellets first as they seem to be the best bet for most .22 guns. MM has had his hand in your rifle, so you will have a great shooter out of the box.

Rdsail and I got this configuration from Mike around the same time.  But for some reason I get significantly better groups from RWS Super H-points and RWS Superdomes than the ubiquitous Crosman Premier Hollow Points.  I have tried 8 other types of pellets in it, repeating my experiments on 3 different occasions for confidence of the results, and logged my results in a spreadsheet, and for me the SHPs and SDs are by far the most consistent. 

I have it fitted with a Leapers 3-12x44 with side AO and it has taken many a squirrel using the SHP's, a few at 40yds but most at 25 or so.  It's a fantastic shooter once you find pellets it likes. 

There are 3 pieces of advice I can give you about this rifle:

1.  Keep the stock screws tight or the point of impact will creep on you.  Mine kept loosening until I got serious about it and cleaned both the screws and the tapped holes with a solvent, then reassembled with a little blue threadlocker and let it set 24 hours to cure.

2.  Watch for the muzzle slipping off the end of the barrel, which will also cause the POI to shift.  The set screw isn't really adequate in stock form.  If it moves...and I trust it will, both of ours did...loosen the set screw and tap it back down into place and carefully run the set screw up and down a couple of times so its tip makes a scuff mark on the barrel.  Then remove the muzzle and drill a shallow dimple for the set screw to seat down into.  Use a center punch to mark the location for drilling so the bit doesn't walk on you.  Reinstall the muzzle and drive down the set screw and it should never move again.

3.  If you are the slightest bit mechanically inclined, rework the trigger group.  The trigger is by far the weak point of this rifle.  Look for my post with a short PDF writeup for a little guidance.

Nervous trigger summed it all up. I think you just need to try a few pellets. From what I have heard from others, it varies greatly from gun to gun.

The trigger work is a must, in my opinion.

One thing. I had a leaders 4-12-40 and the rifle broke it after 1500 pellets. Now I have the same one as nervous trigger.  I'm much happier with it. It is Shaper than the previous one. I'm liking it better. Worth the extra cash. You can tell the construction and fit is better

A grand day it will be when Crosman stops milking the current platforms and moves "above" that of the current Trail XL level.
HE Gas Rams that Theoben uses are the levels Crosman could venture towards and hit a performance/price niche without all the elitist fan fare.

ok rdsail and nervoustrigger.. i have read alot of feedback and info from ur older posts on this air rifle.. i hope to eventually get around to loctiting and securing all the loose pieces... seems like that is a problem with all spring airrifles... i just shot a few rounds just now trying to zero in with the scope.. and my impressions.. wow 1. LOUD 2. seems to hit hard yet very smooth shooting cycle compared to a couple chinese springers i've had in the past 3. and this trigger is very light and quick.. its surprised me.. also very different from my old springers..   i also have to say i think this nitro piston is the way of the future.. oh and i picked up crosman hp's but it will take some time before i can determine how accurate these are...

i wanted to take it outside today.. but it is like snowing/raining up here in the northeast.. so instead i shot a few indoors obviously it will be pretty loud indoors... anyways yea..i think its a pretty solid platform and yes the trigger is very light, i don't know how i could measure it but it seems perfect for accurate shooting without it being dangerous...  i can't wait to get outdoors i'm really interesed in doing some long range shooting out to 40 maybe 50 yards... i think it will be a challenge.. im using a ballistics trajectory calculator to give me an idea of what range to zero the point of impact.. and what the general "accuaracy zone" of this rifle with say crosman premier pellets will be.. i guess i won't know until i get out there.. but using the numbers i think you posted before... 760 fps with .22 crosman dome (.026 bc) there is a nice .4 inch from line of sight kill zone from about 10 yards to just about of 40 yds.. then the pellet drops pretty dramatically after that i think about 2 inches at 50 yards.. but we will see.. it is all estimating at this point but it is interesting nontheless...

finally got the browning leverage outside for a few hours of shooting today... probably put about 50 pellets or so through it.. and i have to say I'm very pleased...  trigger, scope, nitro piston, were all working well together and i found myself improving with every shot..  now its been years since i've had an air rifle so still very rusty.. but i did find the bullseye on the target and also began tightening my shot groupings... i was shooting most of the day at about 50 ft, or 16 yards i would estimate.. right where i want to zero the scope.. and it looks like its all coming together well.. my last 5 shots i really tried to put together.. i ended getting 4 of em at about an inch cluster.. the other one i pretty sure i pulled...  mind you i have to say i really not so good.. was not using a bench rest... and had my scope crosshairs dancing zigzags across my target most of the day... but was fun nonetheless!

wow so far so good.. and fun... put about 100 pellets through the gun today.. very fun.. shot these 5 shot groups early.. .then spent the rest of the day zeroing in at 15 yards... once again very pleased and hoping to improve my skills like all the top guns on here lol... distances are accurate used a tape measure..

yes i bought it through amazon (sportsmans guide).. pyramidair did not have it in at the time... i wanted to go through mike, but i had to have it in .22 especially with the power the nitro piston has.. my pellet trap is starting to look like swiss cheese after about 200 pellets... mike didn't know when he'd have .22's in so no biggie.. $200 bucks for the gun and scope.. and $80 for mikes work... the scope that comes with the browning is very nice... maybe equal to about a $60 scope or so? don't really know.. don't have enough experience with scopes..

I spoke with Mike Melick via email, and if i was understanding him properly, the velocities actually increased.  And of course, cocking, shot cycle, longevity; are all improved.
