I generally go Old School and bend barrel slightly upward .... Most use angle compensating scope rails / mounts.

I used these to fix this problem. You also have to get the posi align insert rings in order to adjust them.

Well.. I'm new to airguns too.
And I can't say that all of the trails are awesome, because I don't know.
and I am not that experienced.
That said, I haven't got 300 pellets through mine yet,
and I have put groups a little bigger than a nickel on paper at 20 yards.
I think technique is pretty important is what I come away with
from these forums, more than subpar equipment.
But that is just my observation.

Try putting a shim under the scope tube on the rear scope ring. This can be done with a business card or even a trip cut from coke can. If this still doesn't give you enough adjustment you should return the gun from the store you bought it. Unfortunately the QC on these guns was a little off and some made it through with too large a droop to be overcome with the limited options you have with Weaver mounts. Dovetail mounting systems have the option to use mounts designed to compensate for barrel droop.

Greetings,

This is my first post here,
I'm new to this as well.
I found a few good helper videos online, I have a Benj nitro all weather in .177 that had the same problem.
I scoured the web looking for a weaver to weaver mount that I could use to adjust it in.
Couldn't fined one for less than 50 bucks.
Check this video out, episode #4 of take aim from the airgunweb.com site.

there are a few more just google barrel droop.

I had mine adjusted all the way and it still wasn't close to being on target at 20 yards.

Hope this helps,

Mark

What scope are you using?

My Titan had some bad droop going on.  I fixed by using a smaller scope.  Neither my Simmons 48mm or my CP 40mm scopes dealt with the droop.  However, a Winchester 4X32AO scope from Academy did the job beautifully.

Another thing I noticed was range.  For some reason I couldn't comprehend that my shots SHOULD be an inch low at 20 feet when shooting with high rise mounts...

You can try to fit a skinny shim around the rear bolt of the scopering to force the rear ring up. It'll be tight, take your time.  That'll get you some of it, without shimming the scope.  Then move on to the rear scope ring. Add 1 shim first, or maybe 2,  aluminum can, or plastic bottle shims. I'll add that you might cut them short (lengthwise), of filling up all of the bottom seat. 1/8" short is fine.  Also look into relieving the edges of both front and rear rings, to reduce the chance of the edges digging into the scope.
Any good scope/gun combo SHOULD be able to hit zero @ 20 yards, without much vertical adjustment. IMHO, Never any more than 50% of the adjustment, to keep the erector tube in good spring tension and retention. I personally use 18-20 yards for zeroing mine.   Here's the airgunweb barrel droop video that was previously mentioned, for review:

I had issues with my Trail NP as well.  I tried swapping the mounts (Front to back), different scopes, etc.  I ended up shimming one of the rings.  A few hundred shots later, I noticed the breech block bluing was wearing off more towards the top.

Turns out the breech wasn't quite aligned as it should have been.  Some gentle file work and now no shim, very little "droop".

Had the same issue with my RS2..had the same fix as well!

Just built this last night to fix a barrel issue.  I usually try to improve a design before I pass it on but I haven't had time and Charlie Detuna has it pretty well worked out.  Therefor I just addd some lightning bolts.  Lightning bolts make everything better.  Keep I mind that several people have commented on how much force is needed to bent a barrel.  One guy posted pics of a bent c clamp.  However, I found that it does not take too much with this design. I went two times without making much change and then went way overboard n the third try

just ordered some of these rings from sun optics, i think they will solve my problem

Adjustable 2 Piece Medium 1" (Rings) Weaver (Base)  Mounts

These are finely machined and tooled mount and are much less likely to "crunch" the scope tube. The Euro-style wrap-around ring design virtually eliminates over tightening problems leading to broken scopes. This particular model is adjustable.and is made for use with Weaver scope rails. You can compensate for barrel droop using the built in adjustments. This mount will accomodate scopes with objectives up to 45mm.

@Jeff76 those rings should work but you may still have to shim the rings. Are you using the centerpoint scope, Did you check to see that all screws are tight and recheck after about 15 - 20 shots? Also what pellets are you using?

@11x   you should have a good shooting rifle, they can be made to shoot better by a few upgrades but if you dont start with a good shooting rifle you will have enough money in it that you could a had a better rifle to start with.

and this site says im not allowed to post links.  i suppose i have to make so many posts before that feature opens up to me.  so i just copied and pasted the product description

http:    //www.straightshooters.    com/sun-optics    -mounts.html

copy and paste that into your search browser without the spaces and it should work

If your scope has mil-dots you can zero it so your POI is at the 2nd mildot down. It will keep the scope closer to its mechanical centerpoint. Thats what I do anyway...
