Great meeting you Grumpy!  I had a great time, as I am sure everyone who attended the 6th Annual GTA funshoot did.  Many thanks to Gene and Dez and their spouses, and CDT, and everyone else who helped organize this event.  I am already looking forward to next year!  Glad Dez figured out that scope shim.

Mike, my Trail NP AW impressed a few folks.  Got several comments about how smooth it is.  Good on ya.

Grumpy and his family did come quite a ways but the furthest was Andy and his dad.  8) 8)  They shipped their guns in advance and flew in from California. Also Kim and Joel from Crosman came down from New York, TPartner and Tyler came in from Chicago and  Richard came in from Louisiana. People just seem to stumble in from all over the place...  ;D ;D Gene and I as well as Dez and the rest of the staff that were present want to thank those that really stretched out to get here.  ;)

Just got home from the shoot. Wasn't sure I was going to make it until 10:00 pm last night, got 4 hours sleep, left early this morning and drove 3 1/2 hours to get there. Would have stayed all day, but I was just too whooped.

Met a lot of folks, CDT. Grumpy, Gene, Dez, Andy and his Dad, Tyler, Kim and Joel and more that I just can't remember at the moment. Got to shoot a few sweet AG's, including an RWS 350, (Now I have to have one), Hatsan 125 Sniper (Yup, better quality than the plain 125's). Folks were very helpful and friendly, and enjoyed getting to talk a little with em. ***The Dark Side was strong in that place, but I resisted. I fear however, that the seeds have been planted*** :P

Really impressed with some of the PCP rigs. Just plain craziness. Couldn't tell if I was at an AG shoot or a SEAL training course ;D

The Fun Shoot is well named. It is/was an absolute blast. I wish more of you guys and gals could have been here. Teresa and I drove 9 hours, not too bad of a trip, and it is always worth it. It was fantastic to see my old buddies and get to shake hands and put a face to my new buddies. And to look forward to jee-hawing with you all next year.
I'm VERY proud all of you made the journey. Grumpy, you got a good wife to handle the driving chores. Thank her for us that you guys could make it. Also great to see Gene & Cathy, Bob & Sherry, Kim & Joel, Martin, Tyler, Howard,  Richard, Art, Ernie and Ernie II, Brett, Paul, Perry, Lloyd and Mary Ellen, Sam, Andrew & his Dad and all. I'm sure I missed a name or two, I'm beat. LOL
But it's a rewarding beat feeling.
Sorry but I'd like to steal your thread Dave and just say how thankful I am to Gene and Cathy for the hospitality as always. Both are the finest kind on earth and they open their home to us to gather and enjoy playing with our toys. MANY thanks to all for the fantastic donations the sent. We had enough door prizes that everyone got something. We had several airguns to raffle and a silent auction for a special airgun customized by ddgrego and donated. EXCELLENT bunch of items that helped raise funds that will go to support GTA and the annual fun shoot. I'll make a post with a list of contributors and pictures of the prizes.
It just gets better every year. I hope to see all of you and more next time. For now, I'm heading to the showers and the sheets. Gotta rest up for the return trip tomorrow.
GOD Bless you all, have a safe trip home and see you next time!!!!
Happy Shooting!!!!

Dave I am glad you and the family made it down.  It was a pleasure to meet all of you.  It was just phenomenal to meet everyone and see my buds again.  Not only Dave but also Andy, Eddy, Lloyd, Sam, Paul and Perry were all awesome guys and it was great to meet and get to shoot with you guys.  There were some great toys and even greater people.  It was nice to just shoot the breeze with Bob and watch Gene and Dez in the shop.  I especially enjoyed shooting with my main man Brett.  Me and him give each other a lot of &^^& about who's gun is better and stuff like that but shooting next to him really brings out my best and I think his as well.  At 50 yards he managed a .32" group with his FX Indy, pretty good shooting....even if it is from an over priced paper weight LOL.  It was especially nice to see Gene actually shoot this year (last year he spent the majority of the time in the shop), watching Gene shoot is something everyone must see.....I'm fairly convinced time stops when he is behind the trigger.  It was also great to get to meet Andy and his Father, Eddy (I hope its spelled with a y).  Andy came all the way from Cali and I hope he has a blast.  I believe all of the high end PCP's may have ruined him and turned his Dad into an airgunner!!!  Everyone say congrats to Richard (amb5500c) for his purchase of a CZ 200s.  I think I may have had something to do with that but he was itching to buy something and I think that called his name.

The highlight for me this year were the big bores.  Lloyd brought his Rogue with him and it was absolutely phenomenal.  It was by far the most fun and coolest gun I got to shoot this year.  And there was everything from Hatsan and Crosman to Daystate and FX.  Dave's .357 was a monster to shoot and was a blast as well.  MartinDWhite also brought his .308 and that was a boomer!  I have not shot a big bore before and this was quite the experience for me.  I thank all who let me get behind their triggers.

I have a bunch of video footage from the shoot that I will go through and put out a video or two for so if you missed the shoot, stay tuned and see what you missed.  And if you couldn't make it this year, plan on being there next year.  It is an experience you will not forget, and one that you most certainly will want to repeat every year.  A ton of shooting, laughs and friendship.  Long live the GTA.

I just wanted to take a second to thank all the members that showed up, as well as Gene and Cathy for their gracious hospitality.  Bob and Dez for their tireless effort in helping make this event a blast for all involved and the man behind the scenes, Ernie (professormeathooks) for all his work setting up the range and making targets.  Now I can start marking off days in the calender until next years shoot.  I hope to see and meet more of you again next year.

I hate I missed this even and will try and make next years.  The wife has school this whole weekend to get her CEU's for her license and I have dad/daughter daycare watch! ;D

I would have certainly came to this event being it is only 2 hours drive for me.

I will be there hopefully next year.  I am happy the Benji Trail NP worked out great and continues to impress.  Maybe I should have kept it and continued to try and master the hold on this gun!

I may have to learn more on tuning and do it on the side.

Even with the finest pellet rifle in the world, shooting the most accurate pellet in that particular rifle, and sighting through a perfectly-adjusted scope with the world's finest optics, it all still boils down to the person holding the rifle . . . !

That was a custom job donated for the raffle and silent auction. I believe it was a modded Storm fitted to a Trail Stock with a Ceramic Coat finish on the metal including the scope. Looked pretty nice.

Paul,

Do you have any more details on that ceramic coating process ?

Looks very cool !

I'm thinking it's Cerakote. If I could remember who donated the rifle I would know for sure. There are a few posts about Cerakote in the machine shop gate.

It is cerakote. Very cool stuff. The rifle was donated by Darrell. Ddgrego. He is the man to talk to about the cerakoting. I also took a few shots with the rifle and it was very smooth. A very impressive gun overall and many thanks to Darrell for the donation. Congrats to Grumpy on picking that one up
