STOEGER X20S SUPPRESSOR
« on: January 24, 2012, 08:27:48 PM »
The STOEGER X20S SUPPRESSOR rifle looks very interesting.

Obviously, that is not merely a "barrel shroud" . . .

Is the "device" on the end of the barrel capable of being opened up to allow the internal structures to be cleaned ?

Even with the finest pellet rifle in the world, shooting the most accurate pellet in that particular rifle, and sighting through a perfectly-adjusted scope with the world's finest optics, it all still boils down to the person holding the rifle . . . !

I prefer to talk to people that "own" items, as opposed to people who "sell" items. Their answers tend to be based on "real world" experience.

Question has nothing to do with bias of a seller ... it either comes apart for service or it does not ?
It would make sense that asking the question to an actual service provider of questioned air rifle makes perfect sense  :P

I would think they don't mainly for legal reasons. Most of te time items like this are permanently affixed to the barrel so they cannot be moved to another weapon

Thank you for that info.

Is the end cap threaded, press-fit, or retained by screws ?

Is that a Spring in the Expansion Chamber ?

Can the entire unit be removed to permit cleaning / rust prevention in the area of the Aft Chamber around the barrel ?

Thanks for your help !

Thank you for taking a look at our Suppressor rifle.  I can understand your question about cleaning baffles, with having shot firearms with suppressor on the end it is necessary to clean the powder residue that builds up on the inside.  However with an air rifle this is not the case, the interior is properly cleaned and coated with a rust preventative during factory assembly.  I will caution you that opening up the suppressor is not advised and would void your warranty.  Please refer to our website at usa.stoegerairguns.com under the care and maintenance section.

To answer your questions yes that is a spring, it is the tension for the baffles to make sure they do not shift for proper alignment.  The Suppression unit cannot be removed as it is molded plastic and must be maintain attached to the gun.

I believe you had some concerns with talking to Mr. @=S+S%^$# above, please do not hesitate to contact him, we value his opinion and suggestions here at Stoeger Air very much.

Dan,

Thank you for taking to time to respond to my questions.

My only concern with talking to any vendor, regarding technical questions, is that a vendor's first priority is generally to sell their items, rather than respond to questions that might not "close the deal", so to speak.

The Stoeger X20S SUPPRESSOR looks like an excellent rifle, especially for shooters with neighbors nearby or for hunters seeking not to "spook" game over a wide area after a shot is taken.

Again, thank you for your comments !

Dave,

If you read Mr. @=S+S%^$#'s blog you will find that he actually did a very good review of the stoegers pointing out things that needed to be improved and to the best of my knowledge stoeger has listened.

You can trust Stephen's opinion.

Did the Gas Ram affect velocity, either positively or negatively ?

Which Gas Ram was used for the modification ?

Thanks !

in my case the velocity went up as i bought this gun used and it was still fairly new but was full of gunk.It is such a sweet gun now Thanks to Gene the Almighty! lol I wouldn't want another any other way now. After several hundred shots she leveled off at 780-790 fps and very quiet.I switched to a wood stock and that help her even more.It also had a CDT trigger installed also.Touch the trigger and pow!I like a light trigger and shes great.I don't know what gas ram he used but it works great. She was pretty accurate before ram but with ram and new trigger she boring accurate to 30 yards.I really like the feel of the Carbine style rifles alot.If ya need any more info pm me and ill talk to ya about it more.

any one got the contact information for stoeger ? Curious if the baffles can be bought by them selves or if a barrel assembly can be bought..

Those baffles sure would make diy shrouds much easier
