Benjamin trail NP all weather .22 issues

My trail was not getting very good groups on a rifle rest which is made out of plastic. You could move the rifle around in the rest to get it on target but this was putting it in a bind so I think that was what the problem was with the grouping.I tried some home made bipods and the accuracy improved 100%.I also think the pistol grip stock causes problems in a rest.Just my opinion.

Springer guns, in general, are not very proficient for rested shooting off anything other than a hand. The action going on the inside needs a dampener on the outside to keep it in line during the firing sequence.

Is your gun fairly new? Have you run J & B Bore Paste down it yet and cleaned the barrel? If not, I would recommend it. It saves having to shoot hundreds of pellets down your barrel before you start to see some accuracy. I own a Benjamin Trail NP XL 1100 and did the cleaning almost right away. It shoots pretty good now. And if I bench rest it, I usually set it on a towel so that it is resting more like it would if I were using the artillery hold. I hope it starts grouping for you soon.

Check the alive jam and barrel lockup. That gun is hold sensitive. Spring my have crimped. Have you ever had aproblem when bring the barrel backup and it resisted you when locking? If so the alive jam and spring may have been bound which will result in the spring losing tension. I have seen this. Gun will  not group and start spraying the pellets.

I had the Trail AW 22 and sent it back because it wouldn't group.  I ask for the Trail AW in 177 in exchange because 22s are hard to get in Little Rock.  The 177 does a lot better.  Still in the break in  period but getting better groups.  It doesn't care for Disco 10.5 or Crosman Ultra Mags 10.5.  For some reason thet shoot to the right.  Premier Hollow  points 7.9 do good and Primier domed Field 7.9 do great.

My Trail didn't group well with the CPHP. I'm getting much better groups using the Beeman FTS pellets.

I am telling you that these guns are on and off. The hold is important. Out of the box mine were great .  After break in they were on and off. I don't know what it is but they are different than other guns. These guns will push your buttons.

Sounds like you need to install some brass washers instead of the the plastic ones that come with the rifle. Check your breach area for movement, put loc-tite on all mounting screws and allow to dry for 24 hours. You may also have a scope issue which is not uncommon.

I agree with UP. Brass washers for sure. I am yet to master this style of gun  as well. These, as I have said are completely different than all my other guns.

My np (but with gas-ram, yours to?) was defect within 300 shots.
Waiting for over a week now to hear from importer (i am in the netherlands, eu) if i get money back, a new one, or horror, they 'repair' it. Someone on this forum is on it's third now..
In the netherland more benjamin np nitro piston went bad very soon.

You are right on. I was told by Crosman I got a bad batch being that they all came from the same vendor.

This has to do with the benjamin trail xp, but in 177 cal. I have 200+ shots in it, no accuracy. I consider this to be a challenge. After reading this forum, I have 2.374 tons of questions. However, one or two at this time will suffice. What is J&B bore paste, where can I get it. What all is involved in a tune up. thank you

I put some brass washers in my trail 177 just a few ago.  Seems good and tight.  Will wait till they break in before I go back with Permatex Threadlocker Blue.  Not lock tight but it works.  Cheap at Wally.  Rickey  Not hard if you want to try.  All I have for tools are a Dremel,  A drill and some files.

I have found a pellet that shoots great in my .22 and it is the RWS SUPERDOME FIELD LINE 14.5 GRAIN.I got a box from WW for around $7.I was using Crosman hollow points and I also have started using home made shooting sticks which helped also instead of the rifle rest.
