My Quackenbush .50 Caliber Bandit is ready.
«

Cool , Dennis Quackenbush called to inform me that my .495 /.50 Caliber LA Bandit is complete. The Stock Wood is of American Walnut and the Grade I Selected was Standard or Select with no Checkering. The Action I Requested was long Action just like.458 LA Outlaw ( Long Action Outlaw ) Features, Except mine is a .50 Caliber Bandit. So I am Hoping I will have a .50 LA Bandit. The .50 or .495 Caliber Bandit replaced The .44 or .445 Caliber Rogue, Yes DAQ had a .44 Caliber Rifle named The Rogue. I am looking forward to my DAQ .50 Caliber Bandit as I feel it Complements The rest of all the other Calibers in my Current Air Rifle Battery. A.50 Caliber fits nice between my .456 Caliber LeRoy Tuned Sam Yang 909S and my .58 Caliber Haley Boomer. I am now with a decision of Purchasing a .45 Caliber Ranger By Dan McVey or a .45 Caliber Sledge Hammer By Jack Haley, I will not rush on this one. I was looking at the Big Bore Bob Air Rifle site and they have .50 Caliber Quackenbush Bandit Power Tunes. The Big Bore Bob Ubermagnum Power Tune for $275 gets a .50 Caliber DAQ Bandit at or above 500 Ft/LBS . This is the Power Tune for me on my New.50 Caliber Bandit , I look Forward to having a 500 FT/LBS Quackenbush .50 Caliber Bandit in my Air Rifle Battery.

In any case ......... way cool on the new gun!!

Flyer91,
Having Dennis call last night with the price of the .50 Bandit and to go over a few Details is just the start of several
Things that need to take place before the .50 Bandit can ship, This is how the Quackenbush 50 Rifle waiting list works.
How the list works: Dennis Quackenbush will take a person’s name and telephone number and call them when the gun
style that they ordered is ready. Dennis Quackenbush wont take deposits or any money up front. When a gun is finished
Dennis Quackenbush will call the customer and make a deal on the Rifle. Once Dennis Quackebush gets a check, Dennis
Quackenbush will then send you the ownership oath. That is to let you know that Dennis Quackenbush received your
Check for the Rifle , And the Ownership Oath is the Receipt for the Air Rifle And Proof of Payment on the Rifle also.
Here is the Quackenbush Air Rife Site:

People should be aware that Dennis doesn't just "take names".... He opens the "waiting list" for a short period of time and then closes it until the next batch of guns (currently 50, I believe) are built.... The last time it was opened (in January 2011) he did a "draw" to select the succesful 50 names.... He was so over-subscribed that he has held onto the extra entries and will select the names for his next batch from those.... Since the list only opens a couple of times a year, I would guess the next opportunity to get on the waiting list will be early in 2012....

rsterne,
Yes, This January a 50 Rifle Waiting list Opened and a Written Request letter to DAQ was to be Post Marked on one
of three days ( January 11th , 12th, or 13th ) And then the Request with your information of Caliber / Rifle of choice
Stock Grade and Action Type( Long / Short ) And any other Options, Etc. Then on January 24th Mr.Quackenbush
had all of the 50 winners of the 50 Rifle Waiting list Listed on the Quackenbush Air Gun site on the "Status Page".
This is what I did. Prior to the List being open in January, I would check every day to see the Status and Date of
the next 50 Rifle Waiting List.

Bandit-46,
I just sent the Payment to DAQ this Past Thursday. When I get the DAQ Ownership Oath That means that my check
was received. Then the .50 Bandit will be shipped. I had to sell some Air Rifles to Fund the DAQ & A McVey Fund also.
I can not wait Until the Rifle gets delivered. I will take Pictures as soon as I open the Box.
I ordered 200 Hornady .495 Round Balls for $9.10 Per 100 Plus $13.70 Shipping. I also E-Mailed Bob Vogel and I am
looking to try the 200 Grain HP or 240 Gain HP. The .495/200 Grain is $26 for 50 & The.495/240 Grain is $33 Plus $8
to Ship. I just might stay with the 182 Grain Round Ball. Patton 1, Cool Deal on your .308 DAQ also. Yes I here it takes
l little time after sending in the Payment that Dennis requests when he calls. I Requested a .50 Caliber Long Action
Bandit in my Letter. Bob Vogel @ Mr. Hollow Point is the only one I know of at this time with a Custom DAQ Long
Action .50 Caliber Bandit. When I talked to DAQ when he called me to tell me the Price of my .50 DAQ all I could say
was thank you Mr. Quackenbush you will have the full Payment by the 3rd ( Disability Direct Deposit Day ),Tworr I
hope mine is a Long Action, But if it is not a LA, Its still a .50 DAQ that I have wanted from 2003 when I read Tom
Gaylords Review on the Bandit. Now I am lucky to have a .58 Haley built for me by Jack and a .50 Quackenbush
made for me by Dennis. I needed to sell a few guns to help pay for as well as continue to fund several more Big Bore
Rifles. The .72 Caliber my Uncle & I were working on was sold to my friend Paul in Palm Beach, Florida. The Bandit will
go to : Bob @ (
http://www.bigborebob.com/
) for a UberMagnum Power Mod, To get over 500 FT/LBS.

Paid $31.90 Total for 200. Dennis will get my Check today or Tomorrow, Then I will be waiting on the Ownership

I got my DAQ Ownership Oath in the US Mail today, Also was a note from Dennis bringing to my attention that
the.50 Caliber Bandit Rifle is a Short Action. That they are not made in Long Action , Only short Action. The
Estimated ship date for my .50 Bandit is August 29Th. I cant wait as I am exited to own my very own .50 Caliber
Quackenbush Air Rifle. I also got my 200 Roundballs in .495 on Saturday and Today I got the .495 Ammo I ordered
from Mr. Hollow Point , Wow Bob V hooked me up with the amount of Ammo he sent and Fast delivery also. I am
closer than ever to having a new Big Bore Rifle in the mix.

Wow,
My Quackenbush .50 Caliber Outlaw Shipped out from Dennis Yesterday. I have been waiting for this DAQ Rifle for 7
Months. I have Hornady 182 Grain Lead Round Balls and Bob Vogel sent me some Conical Bullets to also try out. I should
have my Delivery by this Thursday or Friday. I will then mount a Scope on it. I have a Walther 3-9x44AO blue-illuminated
scope from a WFH that is a extra. I was going to mount it on the DAQ until I can find out what Scope would work even
better on it for Hunting . If there are any Air Gunners that have knowledge on what would work, I could use the Help in
setting the .50 DAQ up Correctly. I would Appreciate all Feedback on any and all tips to help me out. I know there are
quite a few Hunters , Etc with way more Knowledge on the DAQ than I. This is my first DAQ and would like to set her
up Right from the start with Scope ,Ammo , Fill Pressure Etc. I have E-Mailed BBB about a Tune, However I have not
gotten a answer. Does any one know who does Power tunes on a .50 DAQ ?

As far as the scope goes, for a short range hunting bigbore a low powered variable is the ticket. Something in the 1-4, or 1.5-6 range where there is no need to fiddle with an A/O (no time for that with wary hogs and coyotes). With these short ranges along with the size game we go after with these bigbores, we want to place the emphasis on how low a power the scope goes and a wide field of view, rather than how high. Now if we are talking shooting p-dogs with a .32-.308 a little more magnification may be called for (not much more, though), but even a fixed 4X can be a bit to much when hunting game like hogs in thick cover with a .50.
4X max is PLENTY for larger game hunting with a bigbore airgun....anything more on a hunting rig is just a convenience for high-precision paper-punching.

Butcher45,
Thanks for the Input on the Scope. I will start looking for a Quality Low Power / Wide Field Scope. I Hope
this .50 DAQ works well for my needs after the wait. I am so used to my Sam Yang 909S for my go to rifle
and always having great success with it, And the .58 Haley for a bit larger leverage if needed. I am looking
at a .45 Ranger now, Thats my next Rifle. Thanks Again.
