I finally put together a 22/25 caliber bench gun for the longer range guys. I shot it today for the first time at 100y (101 actually). Been doing a lot of indoor testing prior to today. I'm happy to say it shoots quite well. I had a 25m benchrest card next to the NUAH target, and shot several sub MOA 5 shot groups on it before adjusting the scope and moving over to the official target. Wind was variable up to 8mph, but all shots were taken around 4-5 with and 11 o clock direction. Shot with JSB Heavy Kings MKII at 915fps.

Way to go, Mike.... Nice gun, range, and results....
That would score a 50 - 1X in our impromptu Match.... (we score lower on a touch, to help out the smaller calibers)....

Mike, I assume it's regulated?.... Mind me asking what setpoint pressure you are running, and the barrel length?.... Should be a great combination, with the high BC of the Heavies, as long as you don't push the velocity too high.... I'm betting you will soon be determining the optimum MV for the minimum wind drift at 100 yards, if you haven't already?....

Hi Bob,
Reg is at 1850-1900, and the barrel is 23.5".
I actually had it tuned for 22 cal 34gr pellets which were shooting rather nicely....better than the .25s indoors. I went to clean the barrel at the range and broke my cleaning cord. After that...I put the .25 barrel in and just shot with that. I didn't have a chronograph with me so I didn't know how fast I was shooting. I checked it once I got back to the shop, and saw it was up there pretty good. I wasn't particularly impressed with the 25 king heavies indoors at 30y, but I wasn't shooting them very fast by comparison. The additional speed (100fps) seemed to liven them up quite a bit. The hammer is just a pretty light model that I use in my 12-20 fpe guns (25g)...so the spring is pretty stout. I think it would do better with a heavier hammer. Hammer travel is only 3/8".

The .25 cal regulated BRod I'm working on right now will shoot in the mid 900s with the 34 gr. using 1900 psi in a 23.5" barrel, so we are pretty much identical there.... I've had just over 1" groups @ 100 yd. with my Hatsan AT-44 Long with them shooting pretty hot, I can get a 9-shot mag. (unregulated) in the Hatsan within a 2% ES from 950-963-945.... Boy, those pellets sure lay the smack-down on a Marmot at 100 yds., very impressive.... I still have a lot to learn about the optimum velocity for them, but I think they may become my new "go-to" pellet for long range in .25's.... They have the same SD as the 50 gr. JSBs in .30 cal....
Sounds that you like the 34 gr. JSBs in .22 cal. as well.... I have one gun set up for them, my regulated Disco Double.... I can get mid 900s running 2000 psi, but again, have had no time to really play with it at all.... What velocity do you find they like?....

The .22 cal 34gr pellets were shooting nicely around 880 for me. Here is a pic of a nickel that I stood up on edge and shot at 75y. We have thumped a few prairie dogs around 80 yards and they certainly do the job.

What twist rates are you using in .22 and .25 cal for the long range (34 gr.) ammo?....

Thanks again, guys.
I'm very fortunate to have access to this shooting area. Its part of a friends farm. I even have a full FT course in the trees. It's a nice place to be once the leaves come in and there is shade most of the day.
