Will Piatt tuned 909s
« on: April 30, 2011, 05:55:01 AM »
just got this one back and haven't shot too much, but Will did a great job, even recrowning the barrel.

3 shots in the 900s with the EPP/UG from 3000 psi at full power

3 shots in the 740s with the EPP/UG from 2000 psi at low power

today I shot 4 rounds, 35 yards off shooting sticks, the first 3 shots are a real nice group, than you see the drop in the 4th shot

Over 270fpe with super-lightweight 150-155grain boolits to boot.  That's the impressive part.....FPE with velocity.  That 909 likely puts out closer to 300+fpe using heavier slugs, but I'm not so sure NP needs slugs any heavier the way he hunts.

That's right, over 270 FPE with the light ones, ...being trying a few heavier slugs but can't find anything yet that shoots as accurate as the EPP/UG.

Chris what's your take on the ROA 200gr ?  don't seem to shoot worth a "dang" in .457 with my gun

I haven't had any luck with the original BigLube ROA design either, though I have only tried them sized to .454, and cast in BHN9 lead.  I thought the newer ROA2 cast in pure lead looked much more promising at 25yards, but I shot them at 50 yards the following session and it wasn't pretty.  Might have to take a final look at the ROA2's (both sized, and un-sized) when I make it out to shoot again.  Been tied-up recently.

Try the .45Slims from Mark Whyte....those are stellar in my 909.  Still pretty light weight though at 174grains.

Seems that is typical accuracy for the EPP/UG shot from 909 guns.....that is awesome that you are getting 3 good full-power shots off a fill with that WillP-tuned 909S!  Here's a couple quick groups (around .6, and .9 c-to-c) from a few years ago that I shot off the stix at 35, and 50 yards shooting EPP/UG's cast in BHN9 or so lead.  I think they were sized to .454, but I'm not positive.  It's possible that they could have been un-sized.

The very next mold I buy (after my #454424 HP Mold) is going to be the 180grain version of the EPP/UG from Accurate Molds.....should be closer to 185+grains cast in pure lead.

How do you word it... "Air Guns" or "AirGuns"?
